AD-Free Episode 423 - Stupidity All The Way Down

More fun...

On this edition of the Arsenal Vision Post Match Podcast Elliot (@yankeegunner) is joined by Clive (@clivepafc) and Paul (@poznaninmypants) to discuss a dismal home defeat to Burnley. The pod starts with a discussion of the football specifically and what was working and what wasn’t before Xhaka’s red card. The balance of the pod covers three topics: Xhaka’s red car, Arteta’s future at Arsenal and the stupidity of how the club has been run. All that and more on this edition of the Arsenal Vision Post Match Podcast.

Thank you!!!

I’m here for Paul’s book club! This club certainly needs a bloody revolution

Saw that too !!

Why do ppl have to caveat how much they like Mikel and he’s gonna succeed elsewhere before they go into his historically bad results, bar the FA Cup hes literally been one of the worst managers we’ve had statistically.

Wenger basically went the entire of the second half of the 17/18 season without an away win. Highest paid manager in Europe at the time.

Some great analysis from you three . Paul’s point about the football tzar is important , I don’t trust the current executive structure to pick the next manager . Clive is right that we just need to stop the rot , Wenger always managed to get a win no matter how bad the slide let’s see if we can get it !

I just think Arteta out is very short sighted. It's not going to fix the problem here. It has always been a long term path back and was more than likely going to get worse before it gets better. Hitting the reset button just prolongs the suffering, because it's not addressing the actual problems.

Maybe it’s where we are right now that means perversely you guys have more to talk about and engage with. But hands down after a year as an arsenal vision patron, this was one of my favourites. The 3 amigos bringing quality analysis to the table. Yankee has many great points but are we really gonna do this again and recycle another manager at the whim of the senior players? The Auba/laca partnership has worked once since they signed (Valencia on the counter!). Xhaka and his maniac decisions I would say have cost us north of £90m and thats not including his fee and wages (bit harsh to blame only him, but I now hate him as much as William gallas). Hector already planning his sodding retirement, an attitude which means he’s stayed the same since 2016. Arteta and edu have begun squad building reletively well IMO, but they didn’t take out the trash and now there’s rats swarming everywhere. I look at sokratis, kola, bellerin and would have taken £20m for all 3! I’m not even against buying experience but I feel we need to be way more sensitive to player psychology. We want players in the team that want to prove something still. Have you noticed the people that still look engaged are our younger players? This brings me on to my final point... I don’t hate the Ericsson signing as in theory he’s an ozil without the trophy’s, it’s why I don’t begrudge them for keeping auba, I believe they still have hunger. I forgive us for not continuously plucking young gems from out the blue but the senior player recruitment has been negligent verging on corrupt and needs to improve. In hale end we trust! Remember no one said this would be plain sailing. Arteta will make mistakes but I watched our rivals this weekend and even in this state we’re not playing much worse than our rivals against teams that park the bus. Come on gooners let’s hold our nerves, enough of the chopping and changing of the last 3 years!

thank you Clive for bringing up the Xhaka penalty vs. Brighton. It doesn't get brought up ever. Just as bad in my opinion to Mustafi vs. Palace. One of the dumbest penalties I've ever seen conceded.

What does Xhaka's choice of automobile has got to do with what he did? (Post typo joke)
