Excellent again guys. Really exited by this transfer. Looking forward to a vid with different clips because I’m sure he does play thru the lines which this vid didn’t showcase as much. I don’t see partey dropping in defence to make a back 3 as Xhaka did. I think he may play a freer role and get forward a lot more then he is use too under Simone.

Really love the new scouting video feature. Mentioned this on Discord, but would love to see videos like this of high profile but still under-seen Academy players (Azeez, Balogun, etc). Also, bit of a side note, but another interlull type feature that would be cool is a loan report with guests from fans of the loan club. Would love to hear more about ESR's time at Huddersfield from someone who watched every match — stuff like that! Anyway, already loving what you guys are doing, keep it up.

I absolutely loved this and I also loved the Aauar analysis. In this you say a lot about how he is similar to Xhaka but better than him at doing things Xhaka does. So it will be good to see Xhaka doing something similar and then we can get to compare how Partey is different. Similarly for others like Elneny. Let me know if we can do another player analysis but with a more of comparison between him and other mid fielders we have.

Good stuff, guys. Clive’s analysis of Partey’s ability to transition from defense to attack quickly is totally spot on and is related to what James McNicholas also said in his Athletic piece about Partey’s exceptional ability to use space. Those are his two greatest qualities. As someone who grew up in Ghana and loves watching Partey play for the Black Stars, I can confidently say that there’s a lot more to his game than what is dominating the highlight reels from his time in Atleti. He was very good for Atleti, but he also played under Simeone’s very strict system (which, in itself, is a positive thing about his ability to adapt and be disciplined). For Ghana, he’s had more freedom in midfield so you can actually see more of his personality come through in those games, especially his ability to switch off lightning quick from defense to attack and not only make a pass but to also go up and finish off moves with goals. If you just look at his stats for Ghana, you’ll see this: 10 goals in 27 appearances! (There were periods in there when he was literally scoring a goal every other game for Ghana). I think many see him as a defensively minded player/DM, but that’s because of how good he is at defending and the roles he’s had to play at defensively-minded Atleti. In reality, he has even more to offer in attack. He’s a “typical Ghanaian midfielder” - by that I mean there are some basic traits that you will see, including creativity, long range shots, confidence on the ball, and defensive solidity. Any Ghanaian who watches him play will quickly pick those things out. There are similarities with other Ghanaian exports like Essien and Muntari in **some** of the things Partey (pronounced: Par-TAY) does. I’ve personally been a huge fan of his for the last 5 or so years and I’m ecstatic that he’s now an Arsenal player. I just rubbished the rumors over the last two years, because I honestly didn’t think we could get him or that he would want to come to Arsenal. I’m glad I was wrong. We do need a midfielder who can own his space and do productive things with the ball; we also so badly need a midfielder who can dribble when a pass isn’t on. We will see a more impactful and more attacking Partey than I think many expect. Onward!

The best part of this pod, which is different to the many (maybe too many) football pods that I listen to is the unique opinions. Sometimes I think “yes - absolutely right” and sometimes I think “crock of shit”. But without the difference, it’s a echo chamber and there’s plenty of that already. You guys nailed it again. Partey is one of those guys for whom the eyball test is crucial. That quickness to the ball, the ability to close space, make a sweet touch are hard to measure with stats. So agree that he's a transition monster. He will attract defenders. He will beat them off the dribble, or, he will open space for Xhaka and Ceballos to have a hair more time to make their pass. Watch when we start praising the midfielders he plays with. Then you will understand the impact he's had.
