What's planned for this week

Still buzzing from the cup final (and the drinks), but I wanted to get a quick post out to thank everyone for sharing the day on discord, messages, social media etc. It was a good way to celebrate together in the absence of being able to actually be together. What a day, and what a way to end a crazy season!

For regular pods this week we've got a full post-match and season review planned.

For Patreon, the plan is to do a rewatch, maybe with a bit of a different twist, plus that long-rumored squad building pod, hopefully with Ted from Stats Bomb on board. Scheduling still being worked out.

We'll also kick off the transfer window patreon stuff with a first look at some under the radar targets with a special guest who helped us out last summer.

So it should be a good week from a pod standpoint, and from a laughing-at-Chelsea standpoint.

Again, thanks so much for being a part of this with us and hope you're still basking in the glow right now!

Wowowow thank you so much for sharing this. I would definitely second this pod request, even reading your description transported me.

Timing a bit poor on this, since you seem to have a lot planned already, but wanted to suggest a podcast idea for a week where perhaps it is a bit quieter. Also I’m fairly new to Arsenal vision (wonderful work, chaps!) so apologies if it’s been done or talked about. Would love for you lot to do a rewatch of a 7 nil win vs Everton towards the end of the 04/05 season. (Aside for a bit of self indulgence: for me personally I’d just moved to America and was very homesick on top of the months long depression that followed the old trafford debacle that season. When I first moved like for a lot of ppl matches could be hard to find and I had to adjust to the weird times but I got to watch this one start to finish. Just seeing us put on that performance made me feel like everything was going to be ok in the world. (Spoiler alert: it was not) Also I grew up on merseyside and had a kinship with Everton supporters due to our mutual hatred for pool and the fact they always seem to roll over for us, but getting to email them after the match was a fun way to catch up.) Rewatched it for the first time in ages recently and a lot more goin on than I remember that could make it worth a rewatch pod. It was probably Bergkamps last time being absolutely unplayable (it was the last home match of the season and a legend who has a statue now had yet to be offered a contract. Mental to think about now). It ended up being Vieiras last home match though we didn’t know it at the time. Henry and a young rvp played a half each at cf and both were amazing. Henry came on in the second half when it was already settled and pulled out a lot of party tricks. There’s some good young Cesc towards the end and one of the last memorable Reyes games. Pires there for sex appeal. Also in terms of players that are now back at the club it’s become even more interesting. It was known Edu was leaving and this was a farewell. I forgot what an emotional send off he got (they let him take a goodbye pen that he cried after). To see how much it meant to him makes me really happy he’s back at the club. Also up against Edu and Vieira in the Everton engine room (well, more of a 10 in his early Everton days) was a young Spaniard that had just arrived on Jan deadline day that year after an unsuccessful spell back in his home country with Real Sociedad. ‘The mister’ of course lookin very fresh faced. He had been a revelation for Everton upon arrival and he was the only player that showed up for them on this day. Even in a drubbing he had something about him compared to his teammates. They only had 3 shots in the match. All pretty early, 2 from arteta and I think he set up the other one. I wonder what type of impression it left on him having just come to the league? If he met or spoke to any people at the club that day? Also he was the Barca product forgotten about while this 16 year old on the other side comin on the pitch with so much hype. Wonder if he reached out to Cesc. For me because I’m so invested in him now, artetas career path and influences are so interesting. Think about him in contrast to Reyes as well. Reyes was considered a scrappy lad who had come through hard circumstances. But he never got comfortable in england even in a cosmopolitan city like London playing on our carpet. That’s not to knock him but it just makes artetas path of Barca-psg to rangers-Everton really stick out and even in his coaching style that time up North really shows. It might not have come across so obviously as a baby faced lad here, but man is a fighter through and through. Sorry for the length, and if you’re not gonna do a pod someone just commission Stillman to write an oral history of it where he interviews a lot of the people involved. After the paternity leave of course (congrats!). Big thank you to all of you for all the great content recently.

Don’t forget the laughing-at-Spurs standpoint. Thanks for all the content guys

Top stuff guys for providing us #content during the off season. You love to see it.
