RKG patrons,
We’re very excited and proud to tell you about our new series, Games Are Good for You.
You can watch the trailer right now, with the first episode coming this Thursday.
So what is it?
Towards the end of summer we were approached by the UK Government – yeah, we were surprised too – and asked if we’d be interested in making a short series about video games and their impact on people’s mental health. 2020 has been a tough year, and we thought this was an important message to tackle.
We’re incredibly proud that Retry (and before it, Prepare To Try) has always been a positive show – it’s all about supporting your friends, overcoming challenges, and never giving up. Over the years, we’ve heard so many stories from you, in comments and in person, about how our show helped you through difficult times. It’s what we’re most proud of, so we wanted to talk and learn more about those issues in a new series.
We were given creative control over the project, and what we’ve come up with is a cross between a Let’s Play and a podcast. In each of the three episodes, we catch up with a good friend of ours and play a new game. All of our guests – Johnny Chiodini, Lucy James, and Simon Miller – are very open about discussing their own mental health, how they’ve coped over the years, and the role video games have played in managing their conditions.
This is sponsored content, but as we’ve said before, having the RKG patreon and your direct support means we never have to take on opportunities we’re offered unless we absolutely believe in them. Here's a post that details exactly what it means when you see #Ad on RKG content.
Games Are Good for You is something we're very proud to have on our channel.
