Well, I'm never doing that again!

My machine config files are attached for those interested, though I'll warn you, they're rough and incomplete!

Just read the comments on YT mate, some real solid, experienced Engineers from this field are throwing you some amazing respect. Speaks volumes. Loved that quote, but so quick I almost missed pausing it. Damn brain has been hurting again. At this point, not much is beyond your abilities that you decide to finish. Superfast Matt, a former Tesla Engineer on YT has a handy sticker for projects though. Certified Good Enough. I think you added about 30% wasted effort.

I learned Ada in first year Mech Eng. A necessity when you wear a green uniform to Uni. Loved that you had to call a package as needed in the source and left out all the unnecessary. Our Subs have over a million lines of Ada. Glad it wasn’t my baby.

Just to torture your intellectually masochist brain further: You might not be an engineer, but you could always learn to code in Ada just to spite engineers. Because it's perfect for your kinds of projects. Real time runtime, concurrency up the wazoo, won't let you compile if the code can crash, no 300 item single line lists to format in the IDE, lets you write clean, low-level code with documented access all the way down to the hardware stack without having to learn Assembly and is just generally ΓΌber-cool. I'm saying this as someone who's also not an engineer who's just trying to operate a respectable mad scientists workshop myself and eventually learn to code something actually functional to get my contraptions to function without blowing my brains out over relearning Python. (This is v2 of my original comment with some sections AI enhanced because my verbatim sprachspiel is terribly erratic and prone to not fully getting my point across)

I'd love to get more writing in the world - it's just the one part of the process that always feels like pulling teeth 😬 Hopefully my ADHD brain will get used to it, eventually - I haven't been doing it all that long, really. I'd never strung more than a few hundred words together before starting on YouTube, even in school!

Thanks Bert! I'm going to try and steer clear of the software projects for a while, hopefully that means they won't be quite so long in the making (it seems software is never truly finished)

Looking swish mate, great work!

This is a ginormous project driven to completion! πŸ—ΏβοΈ β€˜Slightly’ off-topic: I don’t mean it as flattery at all: the work you’re putting into writing leaves me wondering if you had or would explore some not-an-author things. Perhaps one day please? It’s truly a great video essay. Thank you a lot. The not-by-the-book thing feels more generalizable to me and lets me transfer the lessons you gain through pain and share through more pain of editing to my own adventures in cross-discipline tinkering (and organization)

Entertaining as always

Your level of scope creep is unmatched since the very first video. Can’t wait to see what comes next!

I began rewatching the last videos yesterday in anticipation for the next one. Amazing to see the progress!
