I've had a fair bit of experience with LinuxCNC a couple of years ago; it's great, definitely a fair bit of work to get the most out of it though especially if you're using software stepping and trying to push the servo thread to its limit.. hal code can get tough to reason about if you're doing anything complex with a lot of IO, I used logic.ly to lay out the logic gates for everything visually before writing the code (the second time, after spending days trying to debug the first attempt 😂). Would recommend. Hit me up if you need a hand with anything Linux or LinuxCNC related, might be able to help.
