pale student of unhallowed arts - 17.10

Chapter stands atop the storm-washed castle walls, debating philosophy with the leaden clouds.

Chapter is here!!! Woo! I wasn't certain if I was going to get this one done, considering, you know, covid; it is the shortest chapter I've written in a long time, at just a squeak over 8k words, but here it is! Hope you all enjoy, dear readers! Heather has too many matters to deal with, poor thing, and Evee is only one of them. And here's that link!

This week's password is 'in absentia'.

Epub version should be attached as well!

And ... there's another attachment, too. A teaser! The wonderful and talented artist who is making the front cover for the first Katalepsis ebook has given me permission to share the initial sketches from when we were trying to figure out what to go with. I wonder if you can guess which sketch we ended up turning into the cover?

You're very welcome! Glad you enjoyed it! Heather's utter confusion with Evelyn seems to be very popular, I'm glad that part worked!

Yah, the Shambler offers a potential direct tracking method, if they can either communicate or just use her somehow! As for dealing with Natalie's kidnapping and the mundane authorities, if they don't move fast they may have to end up dealing with the police somehow anyway. Heather's priorities might be a little different though, I suspect she would gladly forego the potential of finding Edward if she could ensure Natalie has the best chance possible to heal from her trauma. But maybe there's a way to do both?

Great chapter, thanks. Tentacle hugs, some lovely written confusion with Evee.

The shambler knows Eddy boy. It's time to see if Heather's new freaky friend can play the role of a bloodhound for them. Even if the Shambler can't be compelled to actively help track Eddy down, they could stick a GPS tracker on her and see if it inadvertently ends up leading them to him. He might try to summon the Shambler again in an attempt to regain control over her or simply to put her down so Heather can't utilize her. It probably isn't wise to involve the mundane authorities, but it might be worth considering depending on how things go with meeting that girl's parents. "Yeah, we know the identity of the man who kidnapped and tried to kill your daughter." It would bring them unwanted attention from the authorities, but there is a high chance that is going to happen with the girl anyway. It might be worth throwing Eddy boy's name into the ring and letting him share in that misery. It would be lovely if they could trick the cops into finding him for them or if it simply forced him into hiding.
