Nick Caged - Page 1 WIP (Pencils/Inks/Flats!)

Got stuck into this MADNESS of a page. Where... in hindsight maybe I bit off more than I could chew, in such an ambitious background ahah. All I want to be doing is drawing sheaths with caggggges onnnn.
Hoping to shade it and move it into photoshop pretty quickly in the next week; I want to keep the backgrounds nice and basic, so the characters pop against them in the same fashion as the last major chapter. So fingers crossed I hand in a finished page next. THEN I can start the good-shit of page 2's big Nick-in-a-cage reveal. I can't waitttt.
Separately I keep tinkering away on the script. It's a sort of mindless joy to revisit and edit every so often. I keep flip flopping between meakign Owen meaner and softer ha. I might share the next version soon, but I'm not sure if I should - I don't think I'll stop editing untill the text hit's the page...

Blown away from the background detail and it’s pretty funny how it looks like Nick is sitting on the windowsill, letting his bare ass hang out for all to see. Very cute banter about the tails and cage sizes, and Nick touching his ring. A very nice treat after a stressful week.

You're stressing yourself on the details when 99% of people are not going to notice. Heck, there are so many people who draw super squiggly/rough lines for their backgrounds, but the detail is dense enough it works. Plus, it kinda gives it that human element, if you know what I mean?

I would have done 3 big tall verticle panels, AND not used the pencil for the lines, or tweaked it to be denser or something. The look still isn't what I truly want.
