Ties That Bind - Page 11 WIP (Pencils)

Okay, there are a TON of images here because this page was a real process! I wanted to really show you all the beats I followed on this page, trying to find the right look for Owen's Monologue.

It can be really helpful to look back to the last page and see that first intense panel. So much of THIS current page was me trying to find a way to be intense AGAIN, without mirroring previous pages, and keeping it feeling fresh.

Right, onto so some notes:

Pencils 1 & 2: I decided it would be super cool to try a feral look for this intense moment. Really deliver a primal stare down. So I decided to try my hand a feral Owen and Nick. I love how they came out, but, gosh it wasn't hitting right. To me, reading page-to-page, it was just odd and strange, rather than powerful.

Pencils 3: I decided to put the top panel to rest and think on it while I worked: In general I get like 4-6 afternoons a week to work as Amadose, so this was one of those 'let's leave it till tomorrow moments'. On this afternoon, I tried to dial in Judy's face and body. the hip and thigh that points toward the camera? Was causing me so much trouble and her expression kept feeling too 'present' (remember she's still supposed to be AFK). 

Pencils 4: We're back to working on panel 1! Trying the previous setup for the faces, but now in athro-style, even trying out a 'boop!'. Thing is, this still wasn't connecting well for me. The previous page's 1st-panel intensity still felt so much stronger, and there was this more-powerful physical connection by having them at 3/4 and interacting. So my profile shots anthro OR feral, just aren't punching hard enough for me. Back to the drawing board.

Pencils 5: NOW, HERE we go =D. I ended up redesigning most of the page to amplify panel 1. Now we give Owen his spotlight; a 3/4 view where we see an animalistic take on him. Primal, possessive, and protective, but not an abstract Feral look! Then I added in a Judy there for added 'punch', and a clutching hand around her for the possessive touch. This really clicked with me - finally, some progress! To help balance out the page I had to enlarge and crop out Judy in panel 2. This way we wouldn't have two just faces back to back (which would draw the eye), and the focus would be on Owen touching Judys' cooch (which goes hand in hand with the words being said). With this new focus on her pussy and their tie, we didn't need a closeup in the 3rd panel. Time to give Nick a reaction shot!

Pencils 6: New page, new things to fix! I drew out Nick's reaction (I don't know if I'll keep the hands they kinda look a little bit too...). I also dialed in Judy's hip situation a bit more, moved her hands into play, and moved Owen's hands up onto her torso, so that her body being 'away' from his as he does this 'show-n-tell' made more physical sense; now it reads as if he's lifting/pushing her away from his chest to really SHOW Nick what he's claiming. I've also tweaked Owen's expression to feel more chill and quieter. I want the words to feel 'sure, soft, and balanced'; so that it's not like he's BARKING these words out. After the flash of sharpness, I want Owen to speak with utter authority and confidence. Now too, I've got a bit of space to show Nick play with his cock behind Owen's face and torso!

One of my bosses used to regularly say 'Good enough for government work' when something was just passing grade, or when it was time to call something good. With this iteration of the page, I'm pretty darned happy! It's MORE than good enough for government work ;D Onto the INKS!!!

Also - I'm thinking it might be cool to throw some color onto the pencils of that feral panel, and then share it here as a stand-alone Patreon bonus image? let me know if you'd all like that?
