Owen Reed Character Sheet (85% done)

Blarf! I REALLY wanted to get this done and in your inboxes before the end of the month - a fun June-post, setting me up strong for comic work in July!

Butttt as you can see, I've gone TOO hard on this, and time flew by faster than I thought it would 0_0 It's SO close to being done. So instead, for those of you who might just be here for the month, here's where I'm at the end of June. So CLOSE to being down with it!

Still, left to do is; finishing up the flatting, design some sort of chill repeating background (I'm thinking a zig-zag?), and throw in some of the back story as text, and boom it''ll be done! Really wanted to hit the look Snowskau has with his character sheets. There's a part of me that wants to also draw on some clothes for the main illustration, but we'll see how far I do on time tonight.

That all being said, gosh you guys; I think I've drawn some of my best Owen faces yet?! Like... some of these feel really good to me. I hope you dig them all as much as I do. 

I spent so much time trying to work out how a sheath might work in my world. I really didn't want to go looking at photos of IRL animals or anything like that; so just focused on finding other artists' renditions of sheaths I thought looked fun, and then sort of wiggled and worked it a bit till I was happy. I hope it feels meaty and plausible, but also still fantastical and cartoony. 

I also broke some Zootpia drawing rules by drawing Owens's lower eyelid a bunch; it's something the characters in the movie rarely do; their upper eyelids seem to do all the heavy lifting. But I couldn't help myself. I can do so much communicative work with that lower eyelid in play!

Things I still need to really sit down and really figure out a stable design for are the feet. Those round toes for our foxes aren't really my favorite design, and the nails always feel out of place on them. I keep wanting to make them more angular and express the toes outward. So one day I need to sit down and re-design it a bit for my own taste. 

Ok, I gotta go dash and get back to the IRL-job. Hope you all like the WIP's - and apologies I couldn't finish it off in time for the end of the month! Final character sheet to get posted shortly. Then onto the comic pagggges =D
