Chapter 4 - Coffee, Script, Layout & Spoilers

Hey everybody! Thank you all again for signing on here and supporting my comics. I've been so blown away by the response and kindness you've all shown me. Truly, thank you!

Ok so, I've got things to share!

I've finished up the script to the next chapter (which needs a better title than 'Coffee with Bull' btw (if you have ideas that play on the 'bun in the oven' theme that would be amazing!)), and have finished laying it out! It was a toughie for me this time. I know a lot of you want me desperately to jump straight into some sweaty sex scenes (which I 100% will later on!), but I felt like that sort of scenario needed some more setup to really land. It was time we had an introduction to a Bull, and it can't hurt to have our hero's talk about limits, boundaries and the likes. More story and more lead up, make the sex even better!

The gist of it is Nick and Judy having a sitdown with a Big gruff fox, who's looking to be a Bull! They've all been chatting on messengers but this is their first face to face prior to any kind of sex. Each one of them will sort of talk about what they want to be doing, how they all want to practice this fetish. So it's still pretty darn horny!

My aim here was to set a starting line for these three's adventures. Rather than diving into extreme scenarios, and limits being pushed - I think it's stronger to show that pre-process. It'll make that end result all the more delicious.

The way I'm approaching this chapter is to write, layout, pencil, and ink the whole thing, before moving onto a one page at a time process for the coloring and clean up. This way the comic will have some standardization - and I just work better this way when it comes to scripts and laying things out - I need to picture the whole thing for it to work!  What this means for you guys, is that you can get a chance to read the whole chapter before the pages are finished. But I realize that a lot of you won't want to do that - ESPECIALLY in this early stage where there isn't much to the art. 

So! I'm giving you all a big heads up on spoilers. If you want to save yourself, and see the pages in a better form, later on, don't scroll down!!! If you look down there now, you'll see my script and layouts!!! All of which will change and develop over time. For the Pencil and Ink stages, I'll share two sets of images, one with the script and one without - I'm not doing that this time as these roughs are nothing to look at.

Below this paragraph, I'll post the JPGS, and after that, copy and paste the script!

If you're interested in the process and understanding what your looking at: I work on my pages with a big extended margin out to the right - its a place for me to dump my many reference images (most screenshots of the movie to help with hands/faces) or rough art when I'm trying to figure out a problem. It all gets cropped at the end. I'm leaving it in, in case I fill it with things you want to see.

The whole point of this layout stage is to see how things might visually flow. I'm looking to have a good left-to-right flow. Make it so your eye knows where to go next at any given moment. Keep pages uncluttered and visually interesting and while I do that, trimming up the script. It lets me see if any pages are too dense or need rethinking, and gives me an idea of the scope. I get to plan out each page and sort of see how they'll feel, nice and early on.

My aim here was to have all three sitting at a coffee-bar facing a big open window. This way they all face forward and 3/4's toward the light, giving me some nice shadows to work with. This way I can also have natural 3/4 view close-ups of the characters, which are useful for anthro's (cause of their long snoots), and closer to how the movie shoots them (I actively try to field the camera in a way that reflects the movie to make it feel more zootopian!) All in all it gives me more ways to play with the camera beyond a face-to-face conversation. Later on, it'll be a darker more orangy home-setting, with a tripod-camera-feel.

I think I'll have this setting happen in the Rainforest district. A woody, utilitarian coffee shop in a green lush zone. So a lighter wetter color pallet.  

For the story, I really wanted to have the Bull be a bigger rougher version of Nick. I love love love the idea that Nick has some hang-ups-turned-fetishes around never being part of a pack. I think he grew up ostracised. So now that he's realized he wants to be a cuckold, I think the idea of seeing another fox, an 'Alpha fox', doing the fucking is a huge turn on for him. He isn't just being replaced by someone else, but by another fox who's bigger and better. Judy's excited too - in my head cannon - the bigger the fox the bigger the thrill of being chased and caught, tapping into her pred-prey-kink I think she has. Plus she loves how it makes her hubby squirm.

Oh and - I decided to call the Bull, Owen! As an homage to one of my fav pornstars Owen Grey. 

Originally I was going to have Judy play with Nicks cock under a table, and then scoot over to Owen and do the same for him before leaving with him to 'find out if they have sexual chemistry', But in the end, I didn't like how rushed it felt, and it wasn't human enough. It was too porny - a real experience like this is talk focused, a couple chatting with a potential third - no sex. And keeping things 'real' is really important for me and this story!
