This is my favorite episode of the season. The bane of this episode is perspective. Such as us and Rudy realizing he may have past life regrets, as well as seeing now what perspective, his older brother really had when he was lost. And for us too, we only saw the time at dinner were after Rudeus’s sister what’s give him a plate his brother tell her not to bother already given up on him, and of course kicking him out of the house. Again from perspective. Of him visiting him so much to try to pull him out, to eventually violently throwing him out, I bet Brother has so much regret too, especially now that Rudeus is dead on Eartj just after he throw him out, I hope a message can go back to them one day. Now for the star of the episodes. Norn I love that we see that even though she got what she wanted to be away from her brother she felt he didn’t want her wen agreeing, so real of what a trebles 9 year old would fill. This is why this series is still my favorite show. And her falling deeper into her brother’s shadow probably wondering (why I’m I even here?) her and Rudy are so much alike, she inherited her brothers frail side, wen he was young, she Judy hasn’t found her Roxy to push her forward like him and so it lasted longer. Both her and him have fallen into depressive state of not wanting to get up, maybe now they can keep each other moving… guess I relate two characters in shoe now. This was a real ramble most of rants are somewhat scripted this was raw. So I will Shut up for now.

2025-08-03 04:14:06 +0000 UTCSo for me personally this is my favorite episode of all the series, I love how well is written and adapted to the anime in this series, the way how its so detailed every character, his thoughts, feelings, relationships and point of views are amazing, i said this in other episodes and i repeat myself again, even this anime is fantasy it feels so real and human in every way. The writing of this show is that special that i put this at the level of writing and narrative at the same level of Vinland saga or AOT. Now about the episode have a special place in me and my heart because is one if not the episode in all the animes ive seen that i felt most related and identified, in my past when i was 13-14 many things happened in my life and changes that wasnt really good, like i lose my grandmother that was like my 2nd mother and was really close for me, my parents got divorced and had a situation of bullying in school, in those moments i really felt like everything in my life was grey and felt like life had no meaning. I stop going to school and I locked myself in my room just playing videogames and seeing anime for several years, it was my way of escaping from reality I rarely left the house and often didn't even go out to eat or talk with my family even if they invited me, and I had an attitude towards them like Rudy, feeling that they didn't understand me and insulting them, and continuing to stay locked up even they really tried to help me. At the end i had a lot of trauma for school and for trying anything and had social anxiety in that moment but my family gave me time, they agreed to not forcing me to go to the school. When i was ready finally get the courage and my life was moving again, i get an really hard exam for get the highschool certificate when i was 20 and start the University just after that. Also right now im 23 and im almost ending my University and of course ive decided to study Psychology. Obviously i owe everything to my lovely and supportive family that they waited for me, helped me so much and accepted me like i was and let me take my own path for my life. For me the parallel in my life with Rudy, Norn and this episode is extremely moving and i can relate with them so much, i loved how this episode was directed with the symbolism and parallels, the way how rudy reacts for the possible bullying of norn at the time he didnt know it was for him that she reacted like that. How everyone helped to get Rudy to see Norn and the friendship between them. When he touches the door, how his old self yell, and opens it and see his old room, i love how the show us the point of view of norn and how she feels and how she sees rudy and how she got all anxious and got manifested as her pain in her belly. When she open the curtain and see Paul in his depressed state and right after sees rudy really lost but trying to be for her even he doesnt know how to approach her or help her. Also in that scene reminded me when Rudy reconciled with Paul and the barman tells to him (at least try to see his face), in this case when norn see rudys face everything that she fear goes away and she finally break in tears and hug him. I loved the moment and all his backstory with his brother in his past life and how because of this events not only Norn was healed and she was able to move forward also Rudy could and i love the detail about trying to tell nanahoshi if she got back to his world and tell his brother (sorry for everything and thank you). And even after Rudy and Norn theyre not like instantly close but they now try to know each other and trust each other step by step. Oh man i remember the first time ive seen this episode i was so emotional and crying, that i was thinking in this anime all the week and crying when i remember it ;( . Its just special and had a place in my heart. Thats why this episode is my favorite one of all the series. Sorry for all the text but i wanted to tell how special this episode and important was for me. Thanks for reading my thesis xd

2025-08-02 13:35:11 +0000 UTCI have to say, that moment when Norn opens the curtain and sees her father in Rudy had my eyes welling up (as a grown ass man). I absolutely love the shift to Norn's POV and the fact that she works her problems out all on her own. Her big brother just had to be there for her, and she took care of the rest. Lovely episode. EDIT: Also, an anime depicting a panic attack? I think this is the second time it has happened in MT, and both times the author (and studio) nailed it.

2025-08-02 00:20:53 +0000 UTCI want to start this by saying I get why people get turned off by this story early on bc as people were saying back during the vote arguments there are so many things about Rudy's original self that are such negative aspects. BUT the reason people kept saying "you're meant to not like him" or "He's written this way for a reason" is because as Ange pointed out, the story draws these parallels to that past. I think the reason these moments are so emotional and meaningful is because that past exists and you can feel the growth, the change, and the wisdom he gains from reflecting on his messed up past. You can denounce someones behavior rightfully but it is cathartic as hell to see a person better themselves physically and emotionally. As Rudy says in this episode, you can't change the past. You can only hope you do better.

2025-08-01 23:25:09 +0000 UTCIt's great that the story is usually told from Rudy's perspective as like an autobiography-style story and Rudy always downplays himself and doesn't usually gloat about his abilities so even us as audience doesn't get the full scope of how strong and powerful he is. When they show Norn's perspective, she sees how almost everyone is in awe of and respects Rudy so much, but she didn't feel that way because her first real interaction with him and Paul went so poorly, the contrast is done so well. In real life, it's often like that too; everyone has their own personal opinions about subjects based on their own personal experiences, but who's to say if it's right or wrong, often times it's just based on each person's own perspective.

Because, the song that plays during the resolution of this episode's situation with Norn is actually a piano rendition of this cour's/this part's opening "on the frontline" by hitorie. In any case, it really is one of the best episodes of the show (so far), you're definitely right about that!

2025-08-01 21:51:58 +0000 UTCIf you think about it that situation at the start with Rudy being angry was ridiculously terrifying for anyone on the outside if you think about Rudeus reputation - An A rank adventurer with a reputation of having slaying a Redwyrm nearly on his own - A silent caster and at least saint class magician in multiple schools - the person that completely subdued two of the schools strongest trouble makers and made them his hench(wo)men - Someone to whom even royalty (Arial and Zanoba) show deference to - The guy that recently splattered an Immortal Demon King across the school grounds and was declared victor of that battle - The person everyone unanimously agrees that he is the strongest in the entire school That person just burst into your classroom looking visibly pissed off and suddenly starts interrogating you after just pushing your teacher aside. Like what are you gonna do if he actually get's violent. No one at the school short of Badi could hope to stop him (by force).

In the end it’s a story about life, to the point where most of us can find at least one thing in common with one of the characters.
