Art and Color Study (12/6/2024)

I wanted to share some late night digital art studies! It's been a while since my last study and wanted to share. Thanks to a friend, I found out that the Internet Archive(org) had a lot of great high quality scans of pinup vintage paintings and art. Great for references!

Amira - Latex

A fun "Draw your OCs wearing this" art challenge! I sketched this over the stream tonight!

My apologies for the lack of posts here recently. This patreon is more of tip jar with the occasional pin-up and strips posted here as a thank you, but I don't want to go long stretches of not posting anything. I'll try to keep up the posts and art studies at least once a week!

Jungle Girl (Oil Paint Study)

I did a traditional master study over the weekend, using one of Frank Frazetta's paintings as a reference. I love Frazetta's paintings, he's one my great influences when it came to female form. I hope to practice more oil painting studies soon. Not only of his work, but also trying to do original art on my own. I still have a long way to go!

(I'll take the final picture tomorrow in natural light.)

Continuing my adventure of finishing a lot unfinished wips! Including this short strip I sketched earlier this year.

Dr. Girlfriend

And last but certainly not least, the best Venture Bros. gal, Dr. Girlfriend for the pink slot! Had a lot of fun doing the villain themed color wheel! I've been wanting to get around to it for awhile now. It was also nice to pick a few characters who might not have been so obvious. Like Esdeath and Doc Oct (Liv).

Thanks everyone for your suggestions over on twitter and discord! There were a lot of great characters to choose from!

Mistress of All Evil

There were so many good choices purple themed characters! I couldn't just pick three potential characters to sketch, I had to sketch six! I settled on Maleficent even though there was debate whether she's more green themed than purple. But I like to think purple fits her just as much.

Mystique

Comic style Mystique for Blue! Movie style Mystique was fun to draw though, I used Bruce Timm's art as reference for that one.

Esdeath

A bit of an unusual curve ball here, but I decided to go for Esdeath (Akame Ga Kill) for cyan! It's fun to draw a character that I would consider outside of my comfort zone (in terms of design or style).

Doc Ock (Liv)

"Thicc Liv" for the green slot! Shego was a strong contender though.

Yellow Diamond

For the yellow slot I had to go with my favorite diamond! The only character in SU I wished stayed evil. 😆

Cheetah

For the ORANGE slot I decided to go with Cheetah!

Jasper came incredibly close but I really fell in love with Cheetah's fierce pose!

Volcana

For the RED slot I decided to go with Volcana for the color wheel art challenge! This time instead of Super Heroines, it's Female Super Villains for the theme!

(Also, apologies for the lack of updates here. Had pretty busy couple of months. I want to stick with my original plan and post an illustration at least twice a week.)

Con Info!

The event is almost upon thee! I'll be at the Brooklyn Comic Con on June 8-9th (as FunsexyDB)! My assigned table in artist alley is H4.

There's been lots of planning, research, and plenty of materials purchased to get ready for my first artist alley! AND Oh boy, I'm exhausted already! I've attended plenty of cons before but this will be the first one I have a table for as an artist! I'm both nervous and excited! EEEEKK!

Sexy Prints, Stickers, and Cards!

 The first batch of prints and postcards came in! (The second batch coming in shortly are mostly Dragon Ball related prints). The color prints came out spectacular and the black and white prints looks like it's traditionally drawn.

I'm very happy with the quality of both the printed art and the paper! I just wish my phone camera could do it justice. I need to probably invest in a better camera. But it's worth seeing it first hand, if I do say so myself!

X-Summer

Time for some fun in the sun with the X-Men! 

A special illustration I'm going to make into a print for the Brooklyn Comic Con this year! (without the tag of course) Even though I'll be attending under FSDB, I'll have a few non-related DB goodies to sell. Like this piece for instance! 

I really love, LOVE how this one came out! Spent a lot of time over it and I think it paid off.

I'll possibly be making more copies of this print to sell online sometime this year...

Random Gal 02

Another character pin-up. I had fun with coloring even darker skin tones (then let's say, compared to Amira).

I added the last sketch to show my process of how I got to the final piece. I wasn't satisfied with the first pose so I tried again with the second. And even if the second one wasn't so bad I thought I could push pose further.
