I really hope that at some point you'll watch Band of Brothers. It's produced by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, and is hands down the single best WWII series ever made. It follows the men of E Co. 2-506, 101st Airborne through the European theater from D-Day to VE Day. It is ten episodes, with an additional documentary. The kid who played little Forrest is an OIF combat vet. Just a little aside.

Sometimes he was an unwitting participant in historical events and at other times he was just an observer. The only thing that truly mattered to Forrest in life were the people he cared about.
