Another thing that is a turn off and wont make you look serious is a first version without enought content it scare people away always make sure the first version of your game have enought content to hook people up and with a minimum number of bug.

For example, a game that takes 30 hours but is only long because it is grindy will simply be tossed. A game that gives 10 hours of solid entertainment is much more likely to get my support. A 30 hour game of high quality? Likely to support. Don't change for me though. You do you. The key is to release builds frequently and remain active.
