If you think about it, first class mages becoming Serie's students as the norm adds another reason why Serie is so adamant about the harsh requirements in the selection of new first class mages.
Since it would then mean that to become a first class mage, you need to be good enough for Serie to make you one of her students.

I like that the focus of Genau's critique of the demon's lie about having a kid was less about the demon possibly having a child and more so about how not believable the lie was, as it was simply something the demon had heard humans say to him as they begged to be spared. And the demon just repeated it without understanding it fully.
Since demons do not raise their children, have no concept of family and grow up on their own, only forming groups when necessary for other reasons.
This is also why Genau said that the demon should've at least tried to use half-truths instead of something like a having a child to care for. But the demon didn't understand it enough to get it.
This is similar to the child demon who had cried for his mother in front of Himmel even though he didn't get the meaning of doing that other than it being a magic word to get humans to lower their guards and spare him.
