Hello everyone, Moulk here! Tomorrow is a big day for us at White Fox Works Corp, as we will release our 2.0 Dungeondraft Library! To celebrate this, I'm super excited to offer you the very first OFFICIAL WHITE FOX WORKS MAP!
Hooray! \o/
The map was entirely made with the new Dungeondraft pack and took many hours to to craft, so I hope you'll like it :) I wanted to make it available for free for everyone, as I'm just so happy of how both the pack and the map turned out, and this is my way to thank you for the support you gave us through the years.
At the bottom of the post, you'll find day and night variants, as well as gridded and non-gridded versions, both available in HD (256 ppi) and SD (128 ppi).
BONUS 1: TIMELAPSE!
If you're curious, you can also find a video timelapse of the map creation.
18 hours of work shrunk down to 42 minutes!
If you have any question about how I made it or anything else, feel free to ping me on our official Discord!
BONUS 2: DUNGEONDRAFT MAP FILE!
You can download at bottom of this post the .dungeondraft_map file if you want to play around with it. Make sure you have all the 2.0 packs enabled when you open the map (the 2.0 packs will be available tomorrow, November 17, 2024).
CAUTION: You need at least the DropShadower and Item and Path Opacity mods enabled, or the map will look very different. The full list of my mods are in the timelapse description.
BONUS 3: BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!
Here are a few key points about the map to kickstart a sidequest or a one-shot:
THE CHAPEL
It’s a place of cult where people come to look for peace and tranquility. But recently, some strange discoveries have been made there.
A light airflow can be felt around the white grave.
Some reported witnessing candles being suddenly blown out.
A strange skull appeared one day on the grave and nobody knows why.
Who knows what secrets lie within the pages of the old dusty books on the shelf…
One of the old stone crosses seems to have broken due to its age… unless it was intentional?
A strange box is said to have been discovered underground near the pond.
Magical flowers have been reported to grow in the garden for some reason.
Some nights, you can see a bit of light moving through the stained glass, even though the door is locked.
Did that statue just move slightly?
THE RIVER
The river is calm and clear, and its sound soothes people’s minds. It flows from the northwest of the town to its southeast border, even passing under some houses.
The wooden bridge is pretty new. An old one made of stone collapsed a few months ago, some say in strange circumstances, almost killing a villager.
The river is a small stream that comes from a nearby mountain, which is believed to hold some sort of ancient power.
Strange noises seem to come from under the bridge sometimes, but maybe it’s just the echo of the water.
In winter, the river freezes, and races are organized for children on sliding wooden boxes. Usually, only one or two of them get seriously hurt, so that’s fine.
During summer, a few fishing competitions take place along the banks, as some of the biggest fish can be found during that time of the year.
Even though the river is right next to the town center, the bridge appears to lead to a rather unusual neighborhood.
There’s a dead tree near the bridge. Some people seem to think it is hollow and that something could be hidden inside.
THE CENTRAL SQUARE
You can’t miss it, it’s one of the most important places in town, and everything else leads to it.
The fountain is spewing pink water, and nobody knows why. It is said to have healing properties, and may or may not be linked to the pink tree right above it.
The pink tree is actually the oldest tree in the region (or that’s what people like to pretend). The whole town was built around it, as no one ever managed to uproot it.
At night, the square is covered with fireflies, which seem to be attracted to the tree. You can sometimes see them fly away from the tree all at the same time, granting a breathtaking and magical view.
There’s a strange crack in the tree bark, almost as if it was man-made.
Some funny mushrooms grow on the grass, they all have various colors and make a trumpet-like sound when stepped on.
The square is often very lively and hosts lots of small markets and festivals throughout the year.
Travelling merchants like to stop by and sell some unique goods there.
THE TAVERN
Small enough to be cozy, large enough to welcome anyone. Come and take a drink, or just have a taste of the Eversimmering Stew!
The tavern offers a variety of drinks, most of them being unique and available for a limited time, as the owner gets them from the travelling merchants who stop by the town’s square market.
In a big cauldron, a stew has been simmering for generations. No one really knows what’s in it, but it is said to be the best one you’ll ever taste!
The tavern is a place of drinks and joy, but also a place of games, and not all games end well. It’s not unusual to see people fight over money and break some furniture, while the owner reaches out for his club under the countertop.
Some of the regular players are known to be swindlers, trying to get money from the strangers passing by.
The owner seems very cautious about the hatch door next to the countertop. It is heavily locked and used very rarely in public.
Some people claim to have heard strange sounds coming from the hatch.
From time to time, the tavern is closed without notice, and the owner always has some extravagant explanation.
THE LIBRARY
A place of calm and peace, miles away from the tavern even though it’s literally (pun intended) next door.
The little vegetable garden outside is for everyone, and many people like to take care of it.
The garden gnomes are at a different place each day, even though it seems nobody moves them.
The well in the garden is supposedly the oldest construction in the town.
The well is said to be haunted by the ghost of a child who fell in many generations ago.
A carved pumpkin lights up at night, even though its candle should have burned out long ago.
Some people say they’ve seen the pumpkin’s expression change, but it was probably just drunkard nonsense.
The library is free for everyone and is run by volunteers. People can borrow or donate books as they want.
As a result, it’s not totally unusual to find some rare books that travelers left there, and people might really be surprised by the diversity of the small collection.
Some books are not only rare but also magical or cursed. As nobody has a clue on how to handle them, they just sit on top of the shelves, leading to some amusing stories when unsuspecting people pick them up.
The library is open day and night, even though it might be a little spooky in the dark.
A huge painting hangs on a wall, some say there’s a secret way to enter it, whatever that could mean.
THE BAKERY
A pretty small and common shop, known by locals for the quality of its products.
The products are so delicious that people who taste them always return. Some would even say they are truly addictive.
The shop is very small, but there’s always what you want, at any time of the day.
Strangely, there’s no oven to be seen. Where does all the stuff get baked? If you ask the man beyond the countertop, he always has vague answers.
If you look carefully, you might find a bloody knife on the back table. Is the baker that clumsy? What does they even use a knife for?
THE ADVENTURER’S SHOP
Many travelers stop at this shop to refill their inventory. The quality is good and the prices are low!
The shopkeeper seems to know a lot about adventuring, judging by all the scars they bear. But are they exactly the same from one day to the next?
It has almost everything you need if you’re going on a quest. The only items that you won’t find are magical trinkets, as the owner expresses a true distaste for magic.
On the walls are displayed drawings of famous adventurers who went there, and all of them are pretty badly done. The shopkeeper seems very proud of them, though. In a drawer, you might find ink and paper similar to what’s used for the drawings on the walls.
Some items are sold at a high price because they are labelled as having belonged to some famous traveler.
There’s a practice target and a training dummy on the outside of the shop, used by clients to test out their new gear, but they’re a bit of a nuisance for the merchants next door who don’t really like receiving a loose arrow through their windows.
THE JEWELLER’S SHOP
Clearly a place for the wealthy. The owner is very welcoming, although they know as soon as you enter the shop if you have enough money to buy anything there.
Everything is clean and tidy, there’s not one thing out of place.
It is kinda hot in there, due to the small forge in the backroom.
The shopkeeper usually places eternal ice blocks around to cool the room, but recently, their supplier went out of stock which annoys them greatly.
You can notice three chests in the backroom, maybe they are full of jewels and riches?
But if they are, what could be hidden behind this heavily locked door next to them?
In the past, the shop owner has been accused of selling fake jewels by a competitor. It’s hard to tell what was true and what were lies, still to this day, but it has affected the sales for a long time.
THE WEAPON SELLER
A weird crooked place held by a weird crooked being.
The shop is very messy and unorganized, but seems to be a real treasure trove.
You can find from the most common wooden club to the rarest banhammer used by the gods themselves.
There’s a hole in the ground that appears to be labelled as “plot hole”. Who knows where it goes?
There are a lot of suspicious items with blood on them, and some of it might be pretty fresh.
There’s a strange-looking stringed instrument behind the desk, could it be a weapon too? It sure doesn’t look like one…
Where does the owner even find all these weapons? If they could sell only one of them, they would have enough to repair everything here…
A set of dice is on the counter, suggesting they might have gambling issues.
Some people say the owner gets their wondrous weapons directly by gambling with gods, feys and demons. Some even say they’ve been cursed.
THE DARK ALLEY
Between the houses are slithering some darker paths that people tend to avoid.
No one really pays attention to what’s happening there, so illegal trades and dark deeds might have been done in the shadows, far from the eyes.
A message in blood seems to call for help, next to some human bones hidden in the dark. What happened here?
A lamp post has been broken and does not work anymore, making the place even darker.
An old-looking barn stands at the side of the alley, but there doesn’t seem to be a door anywhere. What could be inside? How do you enter?
In the alley, but also in various places in the town, you can find two different wanted posters, one for a long haired man with a bushy beard called Jan DeQueue, notorious criminal, and a second one for a masked individual who calls themselves the White Fox, who was probably inspired by the town’s name. Both are heavily wanted and a good reward will be offered to anyone handing them to the guards.
Some say they might be the same person, but is that really possible?
I hope you'll find this helpful. If you ever use this map, make sure to share your experience with us!
Thanks for reading, and now, go have fun.
