It's actually known the exact moment that got it cancelled form which specific episode. Adult Swim had actually encouraged them to go as dark as they wanted prior to that episode being made. There's a lot of stuff your gonna pick up on by binging it (like the names for most people being word play, for example Clay Puppington is Orel's dad and his coach is named Stopframe.)
