Also, unless I’m remembering wrong, Shoto was saying/narrating I think when we were shown that he was visiting his mother back after the sports festival in season 2- that he forgave her for doing that to him. I’m assuming that his saying that he completely blames his father for his scar is because he’s forgiven her for doing it, but hasn’t forgiven Endeavor for driving her to that breaking point

2024-04-30 13:46:03 +0000 UTCI came here to comment about this as well- I don’t think we heard it again here, but when we initially saw the flashback in season 2, we heard her having a conversation on the phone (with her mother, or implied?) saying that she couldn’t take it anymore, didn’t think she could raise the kids anymore because they reminded her of their father, especially Shoto and his left side- so it did seem like a psychotic break or something like that, she wasn’t seeing Shoto in the moment- and it was so bad that she’s been committed/held in a hospital for at least 10 years or since that incident happened. Not that it completely makes her not responsible, but it’s an extraordinary circumstance for sure

2024-04-29 23:53:49 +0000 UTCThe impression I always got was that Endeavor was so abusive towards his wife that she suffered a complete mental breakdown. Endeavor was so powerful that she couldn't flee or fight back, but Shoto had Endeavor's eyes, powers, and singular focus. Shoto's mom didn't attack him (although she literally did), she attacked the one thing Endeavor cared about.
