I prefer the demon reveal in the original manga. A giant demon appears in the sky, visible to all people all over the planet, and announces demons are at war with humanity, then an army of demons attack humans all over the globe simultaneously (by trying to possess random people - if a person isn't "in the right state of mind" to be possessed it usually kills both the human and the demon if possession is attempted, so most people just explode in the streets.... i forgot that cool scene was cut from this version v_v ). Everyone automatically believing in demons and the paranoid panicked reaction of humans make a LOT more sense after THAT
Then again that manga was before the net and cellphones so they COULDN'T reveal demons the way this show does >_<
The other Issues you had (e.g. with the son becoming a demon then the family fighting them, the runner who is half demon being trusted despite trying to kill that other half-demon runner) might come from a similar source, as the equivalent scenes were handled very differently in the original manga.
I think this is a problem with a lot of adaptations that change a lot from the source material - sometimes the changes undermine things they keep in. The panicked reaction of humans to knowing demons exist makes a lot less sense here (given the changes) than in the source material, but they kept it in
