Adam Scott plays the main character. He's best known for his comedic roles in shows such as Parks and Recreation, Party Down, and The Good Place. The Good Place actually got me because Helley makes a reference to that show, and I believe that this show took inspiration from amongst others. "Are we in Hell is this limbo are we in the bad place?" Adam Scott's character reminds of Jim Carrey's character in the film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind where he opts to get his memories of his ex-girlfriend. Severance also took inspiration from this film.

2024-05-19 17:40:50 +0000 UTCIt's interesting that you brought up prostitution as a form of slavery because I don't think the 13th amendment would outlaw that in fact that only form of slavery that the 13th amendment that's tolerated in America today is prison which is explicitly granted an exception: "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation." In regard to prostitution, you're not automatically selling yourself in the same way you do if you opt into indentured servitude. When you prostitute yourself, you're selling your time for a price and how that's regulated is dependent on the context. Prostituting yourself is not any different than doing any other type of work other than the sexual component. Part of indentured servitude is that you don't profit off of it. Prostitution sexually or otherwise can work without the person receiving a payment, but that form would be considered slavery and be outlawed either statewide or federally. On your Patreon for example you are selling your time for money. You make videos where you react to shows and movies and people pay for that and sometimes it is requested. In many ways that would be a form of prostitution because you're just selling a different part of yourself and your time, and more importantly you have control over how much you work or how much you earn, legalized or decriminalized freelance prostitution work in the same fashion.
