2023-07-28 09:36:03 +0000 UTCOther notes on this show- a few of the characters like to give nicknames, Mayuri’s nicknames tend to just be a mash up of first/last name- like Okabe Rintarou=Okarin, Hashida Itaru=Daru, and for herself, Mayuri Shiina=Mayushi. Okabe’s are more random or just based on the other’s roles and/or actions- like one that’s not clear in the subtitles or translated that well (or just translated differently) is that he calls Daru a “super haker” while in the dub he says “super hack,” and of course Daru corrects him to say “hacker” instead- I think it’s clearer/funnier in the dub, because calling someone a hack is totally different from calling them a hacker lol. Another thing to note, even in the translated subtitles and the dub (which is pretty good as well), the character names most of the time seem to be left in the usual Japanese format, meaning the surname is first, followed by the first/given name- so of the three lab members presented so far, Okabe, Hashida, and Shiina are their last names, as well as Makise being Kurisu’s surname. You get the idea, it’s not really all that important, but it could trip you up at times in the dialogue or whatever if you don’t have it in mind.
