Shame they didn't include Et Tu Brute. They skipped "The die is cast" when he crossed the Rubicon too =/ It's hard to judge fictional versions of historic characters without letting your view of the real character (who might be different to the fictional version in some ways) influence you. I think the real Caesar was a bit less arrogant than the one in the show, but that shouldn't change how i see the show's version of him. The city of Rome was originally ruled by kings, the last king being driven out by a guy called Brutus (the ancestor of our Brutus) which is why the conspirators want Brutus involved (for the symbolism). According to wikipedia, "while Caesar had no official bodyguards, he asked his friends to protect him in public. Most of these friends were imposing and dangerous-looking" so Caeser getting Lucius to stand next to him in this episode has some roots in reality

in the series i would say maybe both ceasar was too confident but he was also out moved
