2022-05-19 16:08:21 +0000 UTCWhile I definitely agree with your criticism regarding forced relationships (especially your Harry Potter example), I think that an Al-Winrey relationship actually makes sense in the FMA world. It's not made super clear, but the village they grew up in is supposed to be very small and fairly isolated. They were super close friends growing up, and they both experienced pretty severe emotional traumas while children which would likely limit their ability to form close (eventually romantic) relationships going forward.
