It's hard to believe that twice in the past century, France and Germany have been mortal enemies. It's awesome to see the peace and cooperation that has developed in Europe in the past 50 years. I hope it lasts forever. There's so much that can be accomplished if mankind concentrates on getting along instead of finding differences. Make peace, make love, not war.
This piece was commissioned by Falkie. The black white-tailed eagle is an artistic representation of Germany's Bundesadler (Federal Eagle) and the Gallic rooster is France's National Bird.
On a personal note, I've visited Berlin and the Reichstag a couple of times. I'm always in awe of the rich history, the sobering signs of past violence, and the air of present-day openness and harmony. It gives me an extra measure of satisfaction to share a scene (minus the birds) that I have witnessed.
