Patreon Party People Podcast - February 2018

This podcast is in tents. Like the circus. I'm sorry. If you can forgive me for that pun, I talk about the tons of stuff that happened over January and half of February: the saga of my broken computer gets a little more ridiculous, I complain about Parappa the Rapper some more, and I pose a very important question to you all.

There wouldn't be a 1:1 conversion, but there would still be a lot of interest. You just have to keep the videos short and punchy, for both your audience and your own sake. The more time you dump into the vlogs, the less you have for dev, obviously.

My cousin also said I could get "easy" video content out of game development update videos, and I don't know if that's necessarily true. I mean, I guess I haven't really tried game development vlogs, like in the Overgrowth-style, but I just have to wonder if my audience would respond well to that stuff.

Two things: 1. You're crazy for wanting to rerecord the entire audio just if you want to redo the Patreon thing. If you're seriously unhappy with the audio quality, that's one thing. But NO ONE is going to begrudge you for editing the Patreon list at the end, even if it sounds a little different. That said, I wouldn't remove the people that have since left, as they did pay to support you for that time, even if the video ended up taking a while. 2. This is kind of a question you yourself need to answer, as you rarely seem to go with anything other than your gut instinct, even when you ask for feedback. But to not cop out on an answer, I've always wanted to see you take your game development talents to a bigger stage. I'm also rather concerned about YouTube's continued viability, and while other video platforms might fill the void, it can be hard to reestablish your existing audience on a new platform. And all that said, if you go the gamedev route, you do get the added benefit of "easy" video content in the form of development updates and the like. So you wouldn't be abandoning your YouTube base. Either way, finding someone to work with might really help. You tend to be a one-hog show, but having someone else record footage for you, or help with editing, or doing parts of Overbite you don't feel like touching, that would really help speed up your process. (And no, that's not me. You know how bad my output rate is.)

I’d like to play overbite but i understand it’d take more time. I think if you have plans you wanna work on video wise to put your efforts on them first and once you got everything set up and ready you can shift to progress on overbite and still be able to make content for your channel but about overbite that way you can still have content and progress on your game. Im sure people would love to see that.

Well, which do you think takes more priority? The videos, or games? If you get into a good groove, you could, in theory, juggle between both. I'd really like to see that Sonic video, but that being said, I'd also really like to see Overbite and the Hidden Palace level. Games, I guess is my answer.
