(late) sunday WIP stuff!! 2024 10-21

i realize that for a while i've been caught up in the throes of hyperfixation, which unfortunately means it's very hard to stay entirely focused on animation when my body and mind basically refuse to do anything But something related to said hyperfixation.. that said, i've been hyperfixated on goofy karting and racing games, so here's a product of that: "fella kart"! (working title) the main shtick of it is that it's heavily inspired by kirby air ride in specific, with the main goal being to create an online multiplayer version of the iconic "city trial" mode, with some extra spice added like multiple maps and a more fleshed out racing mode and playable characters with different stats! what you see above is basically a prototype, so it's very Very early in development!

while the project would likely also include original characters and vehicles to choose from, i thought it'd also be fun to include characters that both me and my partner have created, including characters from my past animations, like the bunny and car from "stupid horse"! i'm undecided on how the game should actually look, i'm considering something like a goofy ps1 style, but we'll see.....

the main difference between this project and any other online multiplayer game i've created or mentioned before is that i'm finally taking the time to sit down and learn how to do proper networking for playing with strangers. every multiplayer project i'd made up to this point was almost entirely client-authoritative, which is a complete no-go for playing with strangers that i was not comfortable releasing in that state.. namely, doing the networking like that means cheaters can do things like spawn 1000000 projectiles or play 10000 really loud sound effects across the entire server! this new game would prevent cheaters from doing something like that, so it'd be safer to play online with strangers on their servers or vice versa!

to be blunt i'm not sure if this project will last given it's a product of hyperfixation like many other projects i've started, but i'm keeping the scope tame compared to other projects so there's more likelihood of me being able to finish it at Some Point!
