Patreon Monthly Update: September 2015

Greetings Patrons! Another month, another list of broken promises. Er.

Good news, though! In spite of what might appear as inactivity to some of you, I've actually started feeling creative again. It would seem after the last four or five months ran me absolutely ragged I have finally recharged my batteries at least somewhat.

In the spirit of that, I started a Google Doc to more easily help me keep track of all the things I've neglected in the mad dash my life has become. Never underestimate the power of a "to do" list! Whenever I need to stay on task, being able to refer back to one of these helps a great deal.

That second Sonic Boom video I promised back in, like, gosh, March? Barring any interruptions, I think I'm gonna try and aim for September 9th. Whether I meet September 9th will be a different story, but let's see what happens, hm?

I think once that video's out, I'll be running a poll to gauge where people want me to go next. There's not a ton of you Patrons, so how I handle the poll will be a bit weird. Essentially, there will be a public version of the poll, and a private Patreon version of the poll. Every vote you patrons make will be worth extra in the public poll, like your vote might count for 5 votes, or 10 votes, or whatever. Stay tuned for that.

I've also cooked up a script for a response to that "DEAR SEGA" video. I still need to go back over the script and get another set of eyes on it. Maybe it's time to ditch the GOTY video, hm? Well, we'll see what the poll says.

Some of you may have seen on Twitter that I've been poking around Draconian again. I think I'm nearing a point with that where I'm 100% satisfied with it and will move on. I've redrawn a handful of my sloppiest, laziest sprites and I've tweaked the gameplay further to simplify things and just make it feel "better" overall. I'll hold off on a build of that for now until I get more changes in and it's not just spiffier graphics.

If you look at my Patreon page itself, you'll also notice some changes. I simplified some of the wording and shuffled around some more reward tiers. Instead of an upgraded BLTN.net being our next milestone at $100, it's now weekly streams! I want to get back in to streaming again, and at $100 I could probably start paying for faster internet service, which would improve the quality of my streams.

I also said I'd look in to ways to make one-time donations, but my only experience there is with Paypal, and hearing how Paypal can freeze your account for Donate button shenanigans, I don't know if I want to deal with them for that. Any advice would be appreciated.

I think that's probably all I wanted to talk about this month. If I forgot something, by all means, leave a comment and let me know.
