Patreon Monthly Update: July 2015

Sorry this is a bit belated, I obviously have a good excuse for it taking so long.

So what's been going on in the last month? Honestly, not a whole lot! A week of (absolutely grueling) Jury Duty and the impending trip to Nevada sort of sucked the creativity right out of most of June. If you haven't checked out the newest build of Draconian or the Flying Toasters screensaver, well, what are you waiting for?

I suppose it's worth mentioning that, once I got back from Nevada, I did come back to a rejection email from Boss Fight Books. I had two other friends who also submitted book pitches, and they were summarily rejected as well, so I don't feel so bad. Boss Fight Books apparently self-publish all of their books themselves, and only have so much budget to go around, so it sounds like none of us made the cut. Bummer! A friend suggested I write my book anyway and look in to self-publishing options through Kindle or whatever, but I know what a struggle it will be to get anyone to pay attention to something like that. Without the Boss Fight Books "brand" to back me up, I feel like a project like that might not be worth it for the months of work it will no doubt take. The problem is, I have literally the entire book planned out, with chapter outlines, the whole nine yards. And an idea like that doesn't just go away... especially given at least part of the book was born out of another idea I had, for a video. All of this prose is begging to get out of my head, I just need to find an outlet.

On slightly cheerier news, my efforts to finally acquire my GED have been going extremely well. I've taken 3 out of the 4 tests already, and passed two of those subjects with honors, even though I haven't studied any of them since high school. That alone has been a humongous boost to my self-confidence. I guess I'm not quite as dumb as I thought. All that's left is math, which I have been having to study, but given the rate I'm blowing through the study material it shouldn't be a big deal there, either.

Things I'd like to get done in July:

Fingers crossed! Between all of the chasing around I've had to do over the last month and a half, I'm starting to feel a bit frayed at both ends, if you catch what I'm puttin' down.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have Thrift Store duty tomorrow, so I'm off to bed.
