Release 2 Update 29

So, I have good news and I have bad news.

Good News: Looks like I should be sending the 2nd Release of TAG to Gold Tier Patrons tomorrow (Christmas Eve) . It will probably be later in the day, since the timeline is tight.

My god I hope this will be the last update before release! All of the sound is done FINALLY. This includes multiple re-done AI dialogue files because re-listening to ones I had done before the ElevenLabs speech-to-speech feature, and wasn't happy with, really ground my gears and I couldn't resist FIXING them. Release 2 Update 27

Rough week as far as getting regular times to work on TAG, meaning I had to find and sneak time when I could. But I still got many hours of work done. Even though 95% of my work is done on my desktop PC, and I cannot do Daz Studio image work on anything BUT that, I do have a Microsoft Surface Pro (sort of a laptop/tablet) that I dumped a bunch of TAG files and applications onto. Getting a little tough to work efficiently with my parents' health issues, which unfortunately are getting worse: fractured thoracic vertebra on one and two fractured ribs from a fall last week on the other. Life can get rough in your 90s, that's for sure. Working in the background to get them regular home visits from qualified health professionals and those who can help them with basic daily tasks. AI/ELEVENLABS SPEECH-TO-SPEECH!!!

I just tested out the speech-to-speech AI feature I mentioned in the last update, because it turns out I accidentally skipped one of Nina's dialogue lines in the final scene. HOLY CRAP is it amazing! I just read her line into my mic exactly like I want her to say it... including LAUGHTER... and it came out the other end with her voice, exactly matching everything I did, even little tongue-clucks!

Release 2 Update 25

Last week I guessed I had about 15 still images left to do. Turns out it was more like 28! Anyway, the last one is done now. Whew. This week I'll be completeing sound effects and music, and then I've got those two animations to finalize and render. That part I'm honestly not looking forward to. Release 2 Update 24

I think I've got about 15 still images left before I'm finished with them. That will take me probably to the end of Tuesday or maybe Wednesday at latest. then I can complete sound FX and music, which isn't a long process... then those two animations to finish up.

I think you'll find this captivity scene to be lots of fun and very interesting! Nina has a very specific reason for doing this but she's also toying with and punishing him. Not to mention kind of drifting away from sanity.

Kind of looks like by the end of this week I may have my Olivia voice files!

Now, I'm finished with all the AI voice work up to the last render I've completed so far for this release. Sound FX and Voice Integration

Just FYI.. I'm finding that in many cases now, as I'm adding voice support for the entire VN, where I have sound FX and voice tracks, that it makes sense to combine them into a single voice track instead of keeping them separate. This only matters for those who want to mute the voices and just read the dialogue on screen. If you do that you'll end up missing many of the sound effects. Release 2 Update 19

Okay, just a mini-update here, about the voice acting. I reviewed ElevenLabs AI voice updates, and while they're not quite as "life-changing" as I'd hoped they'd be by now, they definitely are an improvement! Some updates that make a difference to me:

  • There are now quite a few created voices in the voice library I can choose from for characters. This helps find appropriate voices for NPC-types.

Even though I had some delays, most notable delay was that I had staged and rendered something like 20 images before realizing that the floor texture in this room was shitty as hell! then I realized also that I wasn't effectively using sunlight coming in through the window blinds, which adds a lot of drama and interest. Very productive week! Got a lot of renders done, and we're steaming ahead through an exciting scene with Nina. Busy week!

Got all of the phone text message history (remember that?) written, entered and coded. Got all my difficult programming problems solved, and the hardest problem was solved in a much more elegant fashion than I realized existed, with a very cool effect I think. Am now plugging away on the next scene, where our MC returns to Nina!

With all that out of the way, next week should be just image creation and renders only.

Release 2 Update 14

I think I've rendered the last image for this scene. Before I start on images for the next scene I've got to spend a day or possibly two testing and cleaning up the code I've got so far. Some of it's getting more complex, with nested "If Then" statements with multiple dialogue possibilities, and there's one bit of code involving chance (basically a dice roll) that I hope I can figure out on my own!

Surprise! I did go out of town as I mentioned last update, but still managed to get a few renders done. So here you go: a little late but still a full update. Got slowed down a bit this week - a number of renders back I noticed that Olivia's nipples started looking "off": pale and partially "submerged" into her breast. Release 2 Update 10

As you probably know, I've lately been working on an animation where Olivia throws the MC into a swimming pool. The fluid/water simulation portion of that is the hardest thing I've ever done in 3D. Water Simulation Fun (Read: Hell)

Just want to let you guys know I haven't forgotten about you! I thought the glasses breaking was hard! Well: turns out I didn't know squat. The fluid simulations and settings are much harder!
