Lore: Felori - The God of Luck

Memora Wanderer takes a lot of inspiration from many other RPGs.

Obviously Ragnarök Online is a big influence, but when it comes to it's lore, it never really touches on Nordic Mythology past some terms and names. It's also quite different to a lot of JRPGs that covers a general story set up just for you to follow.

For this game I want stories, quests, and lore that the players will discover and piece together. Bigger lore influences include World of Warcraft and Elder Scrolls. Games that come with a rich background that you discover through quests, books, and dialogue.

I want to create a world that feels alive, and that you can explore and learn about at your own pace. That's another reason why I wanted the main towns to have NPCs moving around and interacting with each other. You as the main character will meet these NPCs and experience their stories, not just your own.

To that regard, I've been writing a lot of lore recently, so I know why a certain location is set a certain way, why classes are the way they are, and why certain NPCs are where they are. I've also been thinking about the history of the world, and how it's shaped the present. It's also helping me come up with ideas on how to populate areas with quests and interesting things to find.

The issue is I'm not sure how much to share. I think I'll share some of the lore that's not too spoiler-y, and then leave the rest for players to discover. I'd be interested in finding out how other games handled lore, and how much they shared.

With that said, one big concept that either directly or indirectly influences Memora are gods. Powerful malevolent or benevolent beings born out of energies or descended from greater gods. They have their own agendas, and are often the cause of the world's problems.

Which brings us to the first god to be introduced in Memora Wanderer:

Felori is the God of Luck and Fortune! A feline-being adorned with gold and jewelry. She is a fickle god, and those that follow her do so at their own risk. As a result, luck is a concept in Memora Wanderer, for better or for worse... Perhaps players will encounter an Avatar of Felori at some point, and most likely players will encounter her followers or help characters that have been affected by her influence.
