Lots of bits, Camera sequences, and preparing for an update!

Behind the scenes, a lot of refactoring and fixing has been done as I introduce new features or improve old ones. I also want to bring it up to a demoable state to update the playtest with!

December Progress - Card Game!

After a small winter break, I decided to tackle something small(ish) as a target, and something I've longed to add to the RPG for a while now - a card minigame!

Tackling a whole RPG is pretty daunting at times so it's nice to set myself something that I can get to the end of, even if it's not always the highest priority at the time. I personally find that minigames and breaks from the standard gameloop add a lot to an RPG like this though, they're sometimes my favourite bit!

NPCs, Lore, and new Dialogue UI

November progress has been a slightly slower with the day job interfering a little, but work still continues!

In the first half I was fleshing out more of the lore, scrapping other bits. We added some characters to the NPC pool. Mostly characters of patrons on discord too, so keep an eye out for future opportunities!

Lore: Felori - The God of Luck

Memora Wanderer takes a lot of inspiration from many other RPGs.

Obviously Ragnarök Online is a big influence, but when it comes to it's lore, it never really touches on Nordic Mythology past some terms and names. It's also quite different to a lot of JRPGs that covers a general story set up just for you to follow.

For this game I want stories, quests, and lore that the players will discover and piece together. Bigger lore influences include World of Warcraft and Elder Scrolls....

Floofs, QoL, Rain, Settings!

I've focused on some quality of life changes recently, and with the v0.0.3 update, playtesters can now set and save their controls, as well as audio and basic video settings.

Auto-run was another feature, common in MMOs like WoW where you run forwards by pressing numlock/insert until you take over the control yourself. Adventurer

This is the starter class of Memora Wanderer! You'll get the basics of the game with this class, before being able to branch off to become one of the other classes.

The skill tree available for the adventurer will give you minor skills and buffs to get you familiar with the system. You'll usually see it as more of a swordsman in the footage I share (especially because of the helmet I sometimes feature), but actually I want players to be able to choose between physical or magical damage...

Brewmaster

This is the Brewmaster (sometimes I call it the Brewmancer by mistake), one of the classes you'll be able to become in Memora Wanderer. With a focus on self-improving potions, chemistry and biological attacks!

The Camera Collider

Last night I remade the camera collider. Before it used to smoothly move through collisions, now it's much snappier. It can now also go into 'first person mode'.

Fishing and Other Minigames

Did I mention Memora Wanderer will have a fishing minigame?

With the fishing, we can have bodies of water throughout the land. There could be fishing quests, rare fish, perhaps items that could be fished up?
