Beach Shower (Process)
Added 2024-03-04 03:04:02 +0000 UTCI had a good picture in my mind of what I wanted this to be when I started. I blocked it out in 3d first and then did the initial sketch. I was considering trying to fully paint the beach, trees and buildings in the background at first but decided to have a go at blocking them out as well. The buildings are some free lowpoly game assets I got from Kenney.nl
Painting the main couple was interesting, since they're more or less completely in shadow. I'm don't often do a lot of characters that aren't being lit directly. The main trouble was keeping them from looking too flat and making them pop out enough from the boards behind them. I may have gone a little overboard in pushing the reflected light a bit but I like that kind of thing.
