Changing Goals and More Short Stories
Added 2021-11-18 11:00:04 +0000 UTCNote: tldr at the end
Hello Everyone,
I have a $1,000 goal to reduce my availability at work and write more. That, sadly, isn’t sustainable anymore and so I will have to change it. The two big catches is my mom pays the insurance for the car I drive and taxes. You might ask why my mom insuring my car is a problem.
Well, my mom is against getting the covid vaccine and will soon lose her job. That will mean the cost will fall on me. I am actually happy that this is happening. The only thing my mother still covers for me is the car. Once I am paying the insurance, I will be fully supporting myself. On the other hand, cars and their insurance aren’t cheap. The same can be said about taxes.
When I set the $1,000 goal, I wasn’t thinking about taxes. I’m going to be honest, all of you who read my stories are awesome. This year I went from getting pocket change, to where the government would start caring.
About halfway through the year, I talked with the person who does my taxes and they helped me figure it out. This does mean paying double taxes to cover the first half of the year. While unnecessary, it prevents a large lump sum next year. Because of that though I hope my mom sticks with her job till January just because of this. Still, paying my taxes means that $1,000 will not actually cover my rent.
To make up for this, I will increase the current $1,000 goal to cover my rent. I’ll probably also have to change my $2,500 goal once I know how much insurance will cost so I can figure out the right price. However, I still want a $1,000 goal and recently thought of a good one.
This new goal is to write more short stories. Not just any short stories, but ones suggested by Patrons. If the goal is met, Early Access Patrons will get a post near the end of the month looking for short story prompts. From those I will pick the best received and any I find interesting. Those prompts go into a poll first of the next month and after it ends, I will write a short story based on the winning prompt.
Of course, there are things I won’t write about. Some obvious ones such as NSFW content just because while I’m not writing children stories, I don’t want to tempt Patreon. Others are personal preference and will change over time. Though the one specific thing I can point out right away is that I won’t be writing short stories directly related to my current stories. This isn’t because I don’t want to write short stories about them. The reason for this is I want to practice writing different things. If all I write is slice of life stories about the various people in the D’sP town, that won’t really stretch my writing skills.
Anyway, TLDR: Taxes and bills are kicking my butt and the 1k goal will now be to write more short stories based on prompts from Patrons.
Thank you for your support and I hope you continue to enjoy my stories,
