Have this idea of a character to work alongside the thief girl.

She's a botanist who does research on this particular flower that feeds on bodily fluids specifically from the navel. Its the same type of flower that the Thief Girl use to make her potions.

This is the botanist with some of the samples that she brought back to her lab. She would 'feed' the flowers every day by letting them insert the tip of the pistil into her navel and collect her navel sweat. She will feed all the flowers in the lab this way while jotting down every piece of information she could out of the routine.

It is not advisable to do this under normal circumstances, as the flower release some kind of powder that will make the navel sensitive. It will also mark the navel and attract other flowers to seek the same navel. The heightened sensitivity is hypothesized to cause the victim to stress or panic so that they would release nervous sweat that is rich in protein. It is these protein that the flowers seek to feed on. While one of the flower is feeding, the other nearby flowers waiting for its turn will slither around crowd around the navel and release more of the powder, prolonging the navel sensitivity effect, perhaps to assist in the production of the nervous sweat. After they are done feeding, they will remove themselves from the navel harmlessly.

The botanist endure the heightened sensitivity navel tickling every day to feed the flowers. While she could brace herself for the coming sensation, it is not something she could get used to. She found that the flowers would get more aggressive if she moved away from the pistil while its feeding, but that's a story for another day.
