So its close to a month now since we started implementing the Uncovered Version and while it's going very well, we also quickly realized that the Patreon player is just kind of crap- and that the more we upload, the slower it seems to get on our end. On top of that, 3 posts per movie is just way too messy!
And so, we've gone ahead and commissioned a website! Going forward, instead of a third Uncovered Version post as you've been seeing in the last few weeks, the Uncovered Version will instead be a link in the description! When you click on that link, it will take you to a new site that will first check if you have the correct Patreon Tier for access, then the Uncovered Version will appear right after! Our goal is to eventually migrate the Patreon the same way, so that some day each movie/tv episode will have just 1 post, and all your comments can reside in one place rather than scattered across 3 posts!
And we do apologize for the back to back change and any confusion this may cause, we're both just learning as we go and want to create the best experience for all of you as possible!

Also when the movie is over and the credits are showing with the end music, you could edit it to where you lower the volume of the end credits when you two start talking and if there are any mid or end credits, you can put the volume back up. Otherwise I really like the uncovered in case we can't find or not able to get a hold of the copy you're watching. Enjoying it while it last

However, we understand it can feel frustrating and we are working to improve it over time.

2025-06-17 17:40:12 +0000 UTCWe are sorry to hear that the additional button clicks are causing extreme inconvenient and distress for you, and as explained above the reason for the change is multifolds, primarily because the Patreon player itself is incredibly unstable and buggy for both user and creator end and is not sustainable for the long term due to Patreons lack of updates to their sites functionality. More over, the external site is not yet finished and is still being worked on and improved, including functionalities like playlists and catalogues. However, we understand it can feel frustrating and we are working to improve it over time.

2025-06-15 17:41:04 +0000 UTCWow, that was a pain. I'm using the Arc browser, which has a sidebar (for tabs, favorites, etc.) that I keep open usually. Your website has some js that runs constantly that tries to check if the "dev tools" are open by comparing window.innerWidth and window.outerWidth. And it turns out this sidebar triggered that logic which removed the iframe. So I just have to close that for it to work, but it took a while for me to figure that out. This is also just not a good way of doing it. You can only dev tools in an external window which bypasses this completely. Security through obscurity is not good security.

2025-06-15 14:42:53 +0000 UTCHi Big Gee, on the browser that you got access restricted to, could you type in Patreon.com on that browser and see if the account you logged into on that browser is the same as the one you are using here? make sure it is the same email address. the Patreon app login info and the browser login info are 2 separate instances and do not communicate with each other.

Is that not enough to watch the uncovered versions? Or is this a mistake?

The same goes for VPN if you are using it, please check if your VPN has any inbuilt site restriction, or if you are connecting to a country that has Streamable blocked.

2025-06-14 16:28:57 +0000 UTCHi there, so since the video is playing on a browser, instead of PiP you should be able to do split screen or multi-window mode on your phone. The browser is just another app, and split screen mode will work as it allows multiple apps to run simultaneously.

No audio Will have to completely rework my setup, and previous attempts to use other apps to cast resulted in horrendous lag, desynced sound or constant disconnection from my TV. The uncovereds have been great but looks like I'm back to syncing. Edit: Managed to get it to work via other means, there's a lot more stages I have to do to set up each time. But it is working.

There I make the movie full screen and put the faces of George and Simon in circle overlays. Not sure if this helps anyone but if just one it might be worth saying

Mainly on Chrome but also checked on Firefox and Edge. All good. No buffering, very fast (I'm based in Poland). Also, let's maybe try and not bother George too much regarding our own technical issues or workflows or the fact that a movie posted 3 min ago hasn't refreshed yet ;) What this guy is doing is superb!

But Yaboyroshi has found a way to be able to upload with a full high quality uncovered version of the content within an hour or 2 of recording their reaction. Thereafter, they will post an edited version for youtube some several weeks later. It's honestly the best system I've seen so far. People on internet are dumb, and even if it's a 1 click link in the description, it'll confuse some people and you'll lose a few clicks

Picked “Das Boot” to have a long video to test whether there would be buffering issues with me living in Germany and your server probably far away but playback was possible without issues, scrubbing however was a bit slow sometimes but worked fine enough. Thanks for your efforts.

There is no traditional home page to browse, for now that is still with Patreon but it is not the end goal. We are right now focused on creating uncovered version for all our previous content first, as well as fixing any bugs and major issues patrons are finding with the site. Once both of those things are done, we will be looking into expanding the site.

Not a judgmental question, just curious. Would be nice to be able to just hop directly over to the website and browse it rather than use Patreon to navigate it, but that is understandably also work and money and time and effort, so I totally get it if it isn't gonna happen.

After 4 years of using them, bugs we found from the start are still there and never addressed. In terms of your difficulties with casting, could you tell me what browser you are watching the Uncovered links on? Thank you.

2025-06-13 16:26:14 +0000 UTCI sincerely appreciate that you are continuing to offer Uncovered versions. However, I'm finding one area where this new approach is falling down for me. Although the Patreon app has...room for improvement, one of the things it does exceedingly well is cast content from my iPhone to my TV via AirPlay. Once you start the cast, everything "just works" including using the remote for the Apple TV. With this new method, "just works" isn't exactly true. You can get the content going, but pausing almost always stops the cast which by default will start at the beginning again when restarting. It's just much less stable. I don't expect you all to do anything different, but did just want to share that for my usage model, this is a downgrade.

I don't use Chrome, so Chromecast might not work. I do have a Pixel phone so maybe I can cast at a system level from my phone while to the Google TV? I wish there was a Google TV app for this, even one I could sideload, but that's a pipe dream I'm sure.

2025-06-13 12:45:01 +0000 UTCah yes, this is from a really stupid Patreon bug that we've reported and recommend anyone whos encountered it to do so as well. Basically when you open a video thats in a collection, in the bottom of the screen there is a sort of "play list" overlay, even dumber is that it might not be visible on mobile. Anyways, when you click the "next" button on this play list, it will auto play the video twice, one invisible, the other on screen. The work around for this is to just refresh the page and it usually fixes it.

It seems all the uncovered versions now have a smaller movie frame at the bottom of the screen. Is there a particular reason you guys settled on this? personally I found the pillarboxed version a bit easier to watch :/ Either way, i'm still happy with syncing up my own copy, and a lot of people seem to appreciate the uncovered versions. It will be great having the comment sections combined too!

I did notice that if the movie/show has foreign language that there are no subtitles for it unless you manually turn on the players subtitles. And those can be a bit strange. While watching Better Call Saul it was showing some of the spanish in german.

Not a big deal, but I tried one of the new uncovered on my tablet while cooking tonight and it kept falling asleep like it didn't know anything was happening in the browser. May or may not be worth looking into.

But because what we have is a website, we do not have control over a devices cast functions unlike a full fledge app.

Gutted to lose this after literally waiting for the uncovered versions for this long. But yeah, have to use phone and need picture-in-picture feature. So this will be my last month. There's a reactor who only uses the Patreon format and I'll have no choice but to switch from Patreon to YouTube just so I can watch their content. I thought video might get better on Patreon with the release of live video... guess not

I imagine them having their subscriptions outside of Patreon lets them make more money and offer a similar service for less money to the customer. And the increased money they make without having to take a cut for Patreon outweighs the hosting costs of their own website. Only thing I can think of is having full versions of media on your own site without even the perceived protection of Patreon seems even riskier
