Luckily you can watch âThe Producersâ, Brooksâ debut, for more of his âhitsâ. Otherwise I really like âHigh Anxietyâ & âSilent Movieâ but it might be best to watch some more Hitchcock & silent-era movies before those. As far as other comedies, âBlack Dynamiteâ & âSwiss Army Manâ are fantastic. And Iâd really appreciate it if you got back to âBill & Tedâs Bogus Journeyâ, love those numbskulls.

2025-05-19 09:28:01 +0000 UTCMy favorite line is probably Bea Arthur, "Oh, a BULLSHIT artist!" But also "These fifteen, oy, ten, TEN Commandments for all of you to obey!" Even as kid it never made sense to me, that me saying Jesus Fucking Christ when some other of God's children does something so obviously stupid, that sin is up there with murder, but rape isn't even mentioned. I had that thought while I was at church when I was like 8, I remember being like "Huh?" That and when George you said in the intro oh maybe it's the Inquisition, I had to say out loud, "no George, (singing) it's the Inquisition..." You've seen all the Mel Brooks movies I've seen so I can't speak to the rest, but I will recommend "Kentucky Fried Movie". That was the first movie by the Zucker/Abraham guys who did Airplane!, Naked Gun, and Hot Shots! I haven't seen Top Secret! (with baby Val Kilmer btw, also, still hoping for you guys to react to Real Genius đ) but I've heard it's funny, I'll take that.

2025-05-19 06:26:47 +0000 UTCGreat fun. Very entertaining reaction! Speaking of spaceships, the 20th Century Fox logo/fanfare of this era always reminds me of "Star Wars." And whoever made the Star of David spaceship model really went all out! It looks fantastic. Someone on Reddit said that Industrial Light and Magic (which did the effects and model work for all of the Star Wars movies) built the model for this movie but I can't find any confirmation of that. The late Gregory Hines, who died in 2003 from cancer aged 57, was a very famous dancer, and choreographer, as well as a singer and actor. He was a well-known tap dancer and you saw just a tiny bit of that particular talent in the movie. He starred in "The Cotton Club" (1984; directed by Francis Ford Coppola) along with Richard Gere, as well as Nicholas Cage and Laurence Fishburne. That is an excellent movie and I highly recommend it. He was also in a movie called "White Nights" (1985) with Mikhail Baryshnikov who was a world famous Russian ballet dancer who famously defected from the Soviet Union in 1974, and was granted asylum while in Canada. He eventually became a US Citizen. "White Nights" isn't the greates movie, but it has really good dance scenes and is worth a watch. Hines also starred with Billy Crystal in "Running Scared" (1986), a very fun buddy cop movie. Check it out. She had a 70+ year career and died at age 92 in 2010. She was the product of biracial parents and toured with the USO during World War II. She starred in many movies and TV shows and recorded dozens of albums. There's just so many good ones. Also, that cat story is wild. I had two cats, both for 17 years, and my next door neighbor raised like 5 or 6 litters of cats that were given away to homes, and I've never even heard of a cat taking a piss like that when you pick them up. Wild. That would be a true nightmare.

It's one of my favorite films, so I definitely recommend it. (It's also #11 on the American Film Institute's list of 100 best comedies over the first 100 years of American cinema(1905-2005). Dr. Strangelove is #3, Blazing Saddles is #6, Airplane is #10, and Young Frankenstein is #13.) I prefer the 2001 Broadway musical version the most, but I prefer the original 1967 film version over the 2005 film version of the musical.

However, with two of them, High Anxiety and Dracula: Dead and Loving It, there are some movies you should see before them. For High Anxiety, since it's a Hitchcock parody: -Shadow of a Doubt (1943) -Spellbound (1945) -Rope (1948) -Strangers on a Train (1951) -Dial M for Murder (1954) -To Catch a Thief (1955) -The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956) -Vertigo (1958) -North by Northwest (1959) -The Birds (1963) -Marnie (1964) For Dracula: Dead and Loving It, since it's a parody of Dracula movies: -Dracula (1931) -Horror of Dracula (1958) -Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992)

It specifically references the song (We're Off on the) Road to Morocco. Family Guy eventually did a full spoof of the song in 'Road to Rhode Island'(S2E13).

Silent Movie was hilariously meta. It's literally a silent movie about movie people trying to make a silent movie after they've gone "talkie".

"Life Stinks" is also great but more serious, bring tissues. And the original "The Producers" is another classic.
