A slight update from Andreas
Added 2015-09-05 08:03:39 +0000 UTCHello everybody! Thought I'd reach out to the community since it's been an unusually quiet month.
First off, I've been in contact with Karno. He's made assurance that sketches will be coming along soon, and assures me that the delay has been due to multiple Real-Life issues, as well as working on multiple comic projects at once. The man is seriously keeping himself busy, and in the Tuscon summer heat, that's not easy from what I've heard.
In a related note, Karno made a journal post recently about a site which seems to be ripping off Patreon pages wholesale. They sign up with a dummy email, with a dummy credit card, then just sits back and collect the patron posts without giving anything to the artists. Seriously, what a douchebag move. Patreon is *supposed* to be purely about generosity, I always felt; If the artist produces really good stuff then the fans can throw them some spare change every now and then, and the artist, aided by the generosity of the fans, can produce more and better works. Everybody wins.
The reason I bring this up is because, out of curiosity, I went in and checked the list of patrons, and sure enough, there was in fact one patron who'd signed up as a $10 patron 2 months ago, yet so far has contributed $0. That does sound like a dummy account to me. I mean, I can understand a person can fall on bad times, but if that happened to me, I'd either lower my pledge or pause it altogether, not let the thing just run. But that's me.
So, I am shouting out a question to the patrons on this matter: Should I remove patrons who sign up, yet don't seem to be contributing anything? If yes, how much of a "grace period" should I give them? My first thought was three months, but again, that's just me. The only reason I mention a grace period is because, without it, I'd kind of come across as a goose-stepping fascist if I kicked everyone who's ever failed to honor a pledge, which I don't want to.
I'm just wondering if I should kick those who've apparently missed every single pledge over a fair amount of time.
And in closing, I just want to give a shout out to all the awesome patrons of this comic, who are in fact the overwhelming majority. You guys, old patrons and new, are truly amazing and have helped both me and Karno a huge amount with your pledges, great and small, over these 17 months of existence. I hope to live up to your expectations and hopes, and I assure you... There is a *lot* of good stuff coming in the future. Let's see how long we can keep this up.
Best regards

I understand that Patreon is taking steps to reduce this problem but until then, I don't feel that you are overstepping your bounds to remove persons who do not pay. Especially after two months, with no contact whatsoever. Declined payments are usually because of improper payment info, or paypal declining adult sales. Either way, the patron should be aware of this, and Patreon should do more than simply take note. A common tactic is to use a disposable email (from a site like https://www.guerrillamail.com/) and receive benefits without being vetted by the system. So folk who do this will likely not have any points spent and may only be following one artist, or have their profile completely locked. Keep in mind, the whole Yiff.party thing going on means there are going to be folk trying to find these loopholes and exploit them. You are not on that site (yet) but Karno is, (and he knows it!)

2015-09-05 15:22:48 +0000 UTCIt does seam to be a big problem with loads of Patreons these days. We can easily understand a oops here n there with payment or not noticing something is wrong. So having the 3 month of no payments is a good idea I would add that sending a message, kinda like a friendly 'did you know your pledge didn't work this month' thingy to them might make it work better. If there is no reply to that at all you can happily boot em out or if they give a really lame/poor excuses to why they doing it you can then decide on da boot. On the other side I can happily speak for all of us and say that we love helping out with fun artists n such with great comics and arts we get to see and no matter what, we will still be here to bring the smiles and happy times ^_^
