Dialogue system
Lyana can finally voice her opinion and likewise, we can enjoy a better story now that the dialogue system is working. It's a work in progress since it still needs a few more elements but I'm confident with the way it is structured right now that it will not cause any problems. Mind you, the UI might be a bit ugly. I'm curious what you think about it!
New character controls
People have voiced their opinion on the character controls that I first implemented and most people said the same thing: It felt clunky and unnatural. I therefore reworked the entire character control system where you can now actually use WASD to walk in any direction. Other than that I also reworked the entire system behind the character controls. The game is now ready for minigames or puzzles since a lot of elements can now be turned on/off depending on what the player is doing.
Interaction system
The rework of the character controls also caused me to rework how players interacted with objects. Since the mouse is not present anymore I had to rework parts of the map and create the famous 'press e to interact' system. I'm not sure about the UI showing above the interactable items. I would love to hear your feedback or ideas about how I could improve this.
Performance increase
I managed to upgrade the rendering of the game's elements once more. Trees or large areas of grass are now much easier to render due to drawcall batching and chunking.
Jumping
As of right now the character can not jump. Although this new character control system lends itself well for something where you hop from platform to another platform. Jumping is therefore a nice way to create some interesting scenes and gameplay. I've started working on the animation and I will implement this before the next update drops.
New content
People have asked for it and I've been hard at work creating new props/textures and studied ways to create new levels (There are palm trees in the current map... Maybe that's a hint about the next area?). However the real content is of course: the bondage and the items related to that. Because of this I've pondered a bit about what I should add to make the current state of the game more interesting. So for the next update I'm adding some 'static' bondage utilities that the player can mount or use (a wooden horse? a fuck station?). Don't expect them to be completely finished on the next release. After all it would require new controls/UI and some other scripts and edits. Also, just to be clear, the current map is merely a test area in order to build all the systems required before I start working on the story.
Question: So when will you start working on the story?
Answer: Soon! With the dialogue system now in place and a better idea of how the character moves/interacts with the world I think it's good enough to actually start working on the story. Obviously as time passes by I will keep updating elements and players will be able to go back to older areas to see what has changed.
Question: Will the game be open world?
Answer: Not really. The game will take place on a mysterious island and the areas of the island will be divided in sections. Each section will have its own puzzles and tasks that can only be solved using the right kinky tools or outfits.
And that's everything for this month. Re-working all the control elements cost a lot more time than I would like to admit. Still I'm happy when looking back at where this project started 3 months ago and where it is now. There's progress every update and I would love to keep it that way.
If you came this far, Thank you for your time and support and I hope you have a nice day! <3
