European in appearance, with French/Spanish roots. Often wearing chefs' whites, but when not working has a 'fashionable' grungy/gothy style. Vibes, often dancing or singing to herself, with swaying hips and a wide grin.

Emma is a high achiever, but made a point to never achieve in the areas her parents wanted her to. Born in Spain, her family is international. Her mother was originally from rural France, while her father is from an upper-class Spanish family. As a child, she spent a considerable amount of time in both countries, and as a result, she can speak English, French, and Spanish.

Emma moved to the UK in 2004, when she was 10, as her father worked in a senior role at a major Spanish bank that was entering the UK market through the purchase of several financial institutions. He quickly moved on to more senior roles in other banks, ending up in Edinburgh, the UK's second financial capital.

Emma's relationship with her parents is strained - they look down on her chosen profession as a chef. This has fueled Emma's ambition, wanting to both prove her parents wrong and (perhaps subconsciously) make them proud.

She is a well-regarded author of several books on cooking and foraging, and the 2020 season marks her third year working on the Island, where she was billed as an up-and-coming, award-winning chef cooking privately for the guests. Her use of local ingredients, many of which were foraged on the island, was renowned, as was her willingness to run workshops for guests. Her time on the island also provided her with time to research and write, as well as allowing her to save some of the money she needs to open a restaurant in the future.

Emma has no interest in religion and considers herself agnostic. A renowned flirt, Emma's longest 'relationship' has been with another woman (Joanne Chalmers, or Jo) who shares a flat with Emma in Edinburgh. However, this relationship is more 'flatmates with benefits', though the pair act as a traditional couple when Emma moves home over the winter.
