24 February Update

Unfortunately, I do not have much to report - progress is ongoing with Chapter 11. I have a reasonably clear idea of where I'm going with this one, which should make it easier to progress than Ch. 10 was.

I did note, with some pride, that Chapter 9 topped the LitE Sci-Fi "All Time" favourites for about a week. It has now fallen to 10th place. But as a new writer, it was great to see it doing so well, especially since some talented authors are posting in that category, including other QT authors.

I still plan to continue with the character art posts here, but time is currently a limiting factor. If I make good progress on this chapter, I'll get one up soon.

One thing that has struck me in the last few weeks has been a small number of commentors stating that Callum is stupid or words to that effect. I'm the first to admit that Callum is sometimes 'daft'. The term 'numpty' also applies.

However, my intent has always been to represent him as a man who has had his confidence badly knocked, who is oblivious (as so many of us men can be) to the 'signs' being given by the women around him due to this lack of confidence and who worries too much about somehow repeating the past or hurting those he considers his friends. His thought process is also based on what he knows - not what the reader knows, something that seems to be overlooked at times.

I'd like to think my representation of him, while perhaps frustrating, is at least believable and relatable!

(I hit enter too soon). The last bit I'd add is that I didn't mind the slow buildup you chose for your QT epic because I appreciated the story and its people as story, rather than as an avenue for a quick wank.

The believable characters are what drew me to your story in the first place. Among the various good authors on LitE, you stand out to me as one who writes people as people, not just as props for sex scenes. There's a time and place for erotic tropes. For me, the steamy passages stick with me more if I can relate to the characters doing the deed.

Given what he went through with his marriage and divorce, I'd say more that he suffers from PTSD from all of that, and that is _definitely_ affecting his reactions and behaviours with the ladies who work for him.
