Ms Boyle-Menzies arrived on the island just days before the UK entered lockdown in March 2020. When others were cancelling their holidays, she inquired about a long-term booking and offered Callum the hope of at least some income.
Residing in 'The Boathouse,' Ms Boyle-Menzies spent much of lockdown trying various hobbies. She was intent on staying busy but could not find something that suited her - having now tried all sorts of activities. Studying law and reading remain two of her favourite activities.
Born and raised in Edinburgh, Catherine and her sister were brought up by her Grandmother, attended an all-girls school in the city and eventually went to university. Qualifying as a Solicitor, she gradually worked her way up through her profession, intending to become a judge.
Unfortunately, poor luck placed a relative into a Scottish Parliament seat who opposed the SNP government and was very vocal regarding law and order, frequently referring to Catherine - resulting in damage to Catherine's career prospects.
Catherine's only other immediate family consists of her sister, who was born deaf and emigrated to Australia. The two maintain only irregular contact.
Having concluded that lockdown was inevitable, Catherine decided to leave her home in Murrayfield, leading her to the island. She developed an unexpected but close friendship with Mira, Alison and Emma there - something she values greatly.
With her unusual, tomboy Esq dress style, Catherine favours suits even when roaming the woods. She often sports outfits that might make others mistake her for a farmer or gamekeeper's wife. She is generally as 'neat as a pin' and tries to be well-dressed on every occasion. Not one to normally display her figure, she has always tried to keep herself in shape, and the shirts and waistcoats she likes to wear help conceal an average (C/D cup) bust.
Usually a loner and workaholic with few friends and no history of relationships, Catherine seeks something that might replace her passion for her legal work.
