I’ve got a question I’m sure that won’t get on the feed. I just subscribed to MINNAMAX on Patreon to receive all exclusive benefits annually. Now it’s saying to resubscribe again annually for another different price with a discount close to the price I paid. Why tf is it saying this. I paid a one time fee for content that I’d already on YouTube and I’m pissed! If the original price was listed correctly and diligently I would’ve done it but now it’s asking again and this is not the first time. I also messaged you on twitter with NO response to this. I’m trying to listen to all this game informer content and now I’m gonna have to pay for double the content already agreed to me? Like I know Patreon may have a bug but Jeez this is fucked yo to your viewers and OFF PUTTING

Might be too late to submit but I wanted to share this story. When I was a kid, there was a game I really wanted. I loved Resident Evil and this game looked very similar. I kept looking at previews for it in magazines and even read through a walkthrough for it multiple times. Eventually, as time passed, I forgot about the game but every few years, I would think about it, but I could never remember the name of this game. I would remember details, like a main character that looks like Barry Burton, who at one point turns into a zombie and you have to cure him, a female character you occasionally played as, a robot and for some reason I thought being cold was somehow related to this. These flashes of remembering this game would go on for years but I would never remember the name of it. One day, I stumbled upon Gameinfomers website. We didn't get Gameinformer in the UK. I ended up watching Replay. I think the first one I watched might have been Mortal Kombat mythologies but I could be wrong. I just remember being incredibly entertained and started watching the others. Going through all the episodes that were out at that point I eventually started recognising voices, and personalities. I discovered super replay. At the time there were only a few of those. I know Mario 3 and Resident Evil 2 had been done at that point (and I still get slightly angry about Tim checking every door in the lab multiple times except for the one he needed to go through.) One day, I found the episode where the gang played revolution X and had a laugh, but the best moment would be when the roulette started. As soon as the name of the game came up, the memories of reading those previews and that walkthrough came back, but this time I knew the name of that game that I had really wanted as a child. I finally knew that I hadn't imagined it, and as the opening played, and I saw those same images from those magazines finally playing out in front of me, I knew at last that I was going to see Overblood in action, being played by a group of amazing, funny people. Tim would go on to freeze to death in the first room. By coincidence, very shortly after I found that episode of Replay, the guys started the Overblood Super Replay. I finally got to see the game in action and in the best possible way, with amazing people making jokes and taking the piss out of its absurdity. I now own copies of overblood 1 and 2 (actually found them in second hand stores) . I watched the entire overblood super Replay. I fell in love with almost all the replays that came after and spent so many hours watching you guys play terrible survival horror games. Thank you everyone that worked at Game Informer. Game Informer is with Pipo now.

Richard

Probably too late to get selected but this question came too me while doing laundry and listening Jeff G wax poetically about GIs closing. What was your first Game Informer cover? I remember my first was Gears of War II, I never had an Xbox or any type of game magazine so it was a brand new experience to poke in and see games I never heard of or dreamt of dreaming. I honestly thinks I owe a large part of my gaming tastes thanks to the coverage of Game Informer and the gaming world is a less critical and welcoming place due to Gamestops greed. I remember for a good 5 years when I was 10-15 I would read every magazine from cover to cover. Love all you guys/gals from game informer and I truly will follow your work where ever you may go.

Shakenbake67

Hey sorry for the late request. The discord won't (understandably) stop talking about eggs. Can everyone give their stance on eggs The appropriate amount to eat per style (fried, scrambled, poached, etc.) And their favorite method of egg consumption. I'll take the answer off the air.

Fred Dinovo

What's better fiction, sci-fi or fantasy?

Doddscrong

On last weeks podcast, you missed on of my favorite PlayStation slogans, from the original PlayStation: “you are not e”, with the “e” being in red. It reads “you are not ready”.

Matthew

What’s your go-to breakfast?

Dennis Cortes

What's your go-to appetizer when eating with a group? For my money loaded cheese fries are unbeatable.

Duderado

Hey Minnmax ? Do you eat while playing games ? Thank you and have a nice day ? And hello Kyle <3 :-)

Felix davin

I've started to take 20 minutes naps about two years ago. Life changing. Sometimes my nap will be through yoga nidra, or listening to asmr etc. I don't fully go to sleep, but usually can get to a point where I fully relax and leave the mental ship for a minute. It is wonderful.

Felix davin

Hello MM crew! SEGA recently filed the trademark for "Yakuza Wars" which has sparked quite a few theories on what the next game will be, assuming this title implies a spin-off, what genre would you want Yakuza to expand into after having mainline brawlers and JRPGs ?

Luca Alberti

When playing an open world adventure game. Would you prefer A) A mini map where the Cardinal directions are static and an arrow representing you changes direction. Or B) A mini map that changes direction with you and the Cardinal directions rotate keeping your arrow static? Personally I feel like there should be a clear answer but I'm convinced it changes for everyone. For me. I'm the center of the Universe. Please rotate around me. Thank you.

Sincerly, Eric

Who is your favorite game character that had little impact on their game's events or overall narrative?

tuxpeng

If Downsizing was called The Shorties it would have sold better. What other film could have performed better at the box office if it was named differently?

HaulingGas

You attend high school with all your favorite video game characters, all aged 18. It’s time to vote for senior superlatives - who gets your vote in these categories? - Class clown - Best bromance - Best dressed - Cutest couple - Most likely to win a reality show - Most likely to get ID’d when they’re 30

Ian

Howdy cohorts and all, New patreon supporter and first question. Was thinking about super replay and was wondering, have you ever either for work or on a suggestion or whim decided to play something in a genre you wouldn't consider your wheelhouse and then figured out you loved it? Mine would be stardew valley, I always tried the harvest moon games and other types like rune factory and could never get into it but stardew really grabbed me when my wife decided to try it and it looked fun so I gave it a go and then played for weeks.

Ryan Trombatore

Is there any better feeling than getting someone on the podcast to laugh? GI forever!

NonProfessionalz

As much as the circumstances for this get together sucks, you all are now alumni to one of–possibly THE best, most prolific games journalism outlets to have existed. Apart from the work we were able to see, what's something you want to highlight from your tenure? Much love. GameStop sucks, and may this moment be a small blip in your successful lives and careers.

Jt

What time of day do you feel most productive? And if you ever nap when and how long do you nap for. Ever since I've had kids my most productive time of the day has been getting earlier and earlier and by 2pm I need either caffeine or to try to get a little bit of sleep to be at my best.

Tomhan

Since we have everyone together, let’s have some fun with it. Old school yearbook style. Who out of all of you is the class clown? Who’s the biggest flirt? Who’s gonna be the biggest star? Who’s the most likely to meet the president?

Joshua H.

Ello MinnFam I know we don't normally talk about these kinda things but exciting news! The political sunshine is heading your way! How does it feel to have your governor chosen to be VP. He sounds like a great guy. #LongLiveGameInformer PS. Love you guys show much. Been a fan for years, heartbroken for everyone especially Kyle. Best wishes. You will rise again!

Shimmy Neutron

Hello everyone! Just wanna say and ask, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DEAR GOD WHY?????!?!?!!!!?!????????????!?!!!!!?!???!!?!????!?!!!???!??!!??!!??!!?!??!!?????!!!!!!! Thank you and I’m sorry.

Joshua H.

Thought experiment: You’re living in a nursing home at the age of 80 and your grandkids come to visit. Your grandkids think you’re cool because you worked in the games industry and want to know when you fell in love with the job. What do you tell them?

Mackenzie

Hi Minners, Maxers, and Former Informers; If you could pick one life-size statue of a gaming character to visibly stand ominously behind you on every video call for the rest of your career, what character would you pick?

p9xm

Hello MinnMax! One of my favorite videos y’all did was the Replays and Super Replays. So my question is what was your favorite Replay episode and is there a game you wanted or wished you did a Replay episode on?

Zach Killian

Hello Cohorts and Informers and f*ck GameStop! Incredible tragic to hear about the Game Informer news. My question for the crew is whether or not it feels more apparent that games criticism and journalism is going down or fated for the content creation/influencer route. How do we feel about this if we believe this to be true? Are there concerns for saturation with a number of podcast outlets coming out? Is it an opportunity for personalities to stand out more than they would at a big company? I’m curious to know your thoughts. Keep doing what you’re doing and I hope you all land on your feet okay!

transundertale

Hello all! How many times do you need to say goodbye before hanging up in a voice/video call?

Tess

Hello GameinnMaxers, I am so sad to hear the horrible news about game informer being closed. I still have a vivid memory of reading my first issue about Farcry 2. The writing of the article made it so easy to picture the game and I had to go out and buy the game. On top of that, I would never had found Minnmax and this great community if it weren't for the gameinformer show. Thanks for all the in depth reporting over the years! I can't wait to see what this outlet turns itself into. My question is what cover story trip changed your perspective or permanently endeared you to a particular game?

Graham Jones

Hello former Game Informers. I'm was very sorry to hear that GI got shut down, especially with the big fat middle finger GameStop management gave you all on the way out. Since capitalism sucks the big one and it appears that we're barreling towards the dystopian corporate future we always see in games, TV, and movies, let me ask you this. If there was a real game show that actually had real people compete to the death, a la Squid Game, Running Man, Hunger Games, etc... would you watch?

Adam Cohen

I’m curious about the personal relationship between GameStop and Game Informer. Did you spend any time/get along with any individuals on the corporate side? What did the company barbecues look like?

John

Howdy folks! I think we can all agree Jeff Cork's 'Star Wars' article is the best article GI ever created. But in your opinion, purely from a visual standpoint, what GI cover was your favorite? Whether it's for it's nostalgia, one that just hits on your favorite game, or just a visual tour-de-force. BTW I was a GI subscriber since (give or take) issue 50, and I can say I loved it right to the bitter end, thanks in large part due to all of your hard work. You all should be incredibly proud of your work there, and I look forward to see what amazing things you do next! All love - Bob Buel

Bob Buel

My grandfather is the reason why I play video games. In his retirement, he chose video games to spend his time. Living in St. Paul and being a block away from a gamestop we naturally read GameInformer. Been following since I was a child. I was introduced to Oblivion because of the GameInformer monthly recommended. I played Okami and played Halo. My grandfather and I would walk down once a month, buy a copy and buy whatever the monthly recommended game was. I played through Resident Evil 4 with him, thanks to GameInformer. The magazine and the many years it existed played a part not only in my love of games but my childhood and my relationship with my grandfather. This comment is too long I know, but I have found myself deeply emotional about the shutdown and I wish the best for everyone there. I wouldn't be playing video games without GameInformer and wouldn't have had the relationship with my grandfather I did without it. Is there a game you wouldn't have played without Game Informer?

Hunter Sax

Have you ever wanted to love a game but it wouldn't let you? Pacific Drive; the station wagon survival game has a concept and art style that had me all-in. But the grating voice acting, overly-complicated upgrade-tree, and unfriendly save system pushed me away. It has menu options to turn off some of it's annoying mechanics, but that feels like an admission of faulty design. Have the co-horts ever been hurt by hitting un-install?

Dixon Denham

A few yrs ago I started to take capoeira classes. It reminded me of the playing the capoeira fighter in tekken named Eddie Gordo. Have you done something in real life that was similar to something in a video game?

Ajay Nath

Who is the strongest video game character you think you could beat in a fight

Ian

Hello Good People, After watching your awesome video of the GI office, my question is was GI independent before Game Stop Came along or did Game Stop make GI, and if so why was it not based in TX ?? Wishing all those that lost their jobs the best of luck!!! Your Podcast and Magazine will be truly missed! And "F" Game Stop! My kid worked there for a year and i never seen a worse run company!

FinalSin

Hey Minnmax, My first issue of game informer was issue 100. I was blown away by these games I’ve never heard of before. I couldn’t believe how large the video game industry was. Do you think this top 100 from 2001 still stands up today? P.S I’m always drawn to the bottom 50 of older 100 lists. Something about it gives me a stronger idea of what the writers personal favorites games were at that time.

Ari Torbin

Any chance Marcus and Kyle can finish their Majora’s Mask Super Replay thru MinnMax?

Tommy White

During your time working at Game Informer, what was your favorite game to inform people about?

SuperCerberus

Hi former GameInformer employees (and some not!) Obviously the purchase of GI by GameStop was terrible on several levels, but I can’t help but wonder if there is a path forward for GameStop at this point. Many great folks worked there, and it is a big brand which many of us have at least some fond memories of. What changes would GameStop need to make (in your opinion) to pull out of this terminal nosedive?

Chris Blake

I should have looked at this week’s guest list. Thanks for the reminder!

Neal McMahon

catching up on episodes and just listened to Ellie Joy Panic ep... what's the deal with swearing on MinnMax? i know it's technically a family show, and certain cuss words are off limits (f-word, a**hole, and obv the c-word since we're in America) but there's *a lot* that don't get bleeped. i can say for certain i've heard: damn, hell, son of a b, g-damn, Jesus Christ (i'm not religious but i know a lot of people take offense to that one), shit, and ass. why not just let the rest in? i know the cohorts are reserved enough they won't let f-bombs fly every other word. really, what the cuss could go wrong?

RabidLime

Hey MinnMax and Game Informer crews! I have noticed that many youtube channels took the recent Game Informer's piece on Dragon Age Veilguard to produce their own content. This is a fairly commonplace practice these days, but I was pretty irked when some of them out right stated that they did this so that their audience wouldn't need to actually get the magazine or read a long article filled with "unecessary" information (I am paraphrasing). I find this to be a completely ridiculous attitude towards their one and only source. I think Ben has once mentioned the same phenomenon where a MinnMax' interview would be used widely throughout the internet without much consideration to actually drive traffic towards or support MinnMax at all. Does this affect how you view your jobs at all and if so what is your takeaway?

resnet

Hey folks! I'd love to see more games media coverage of the Labor Neutrality Agreement between Microsoft and the Communications Workers of America (CWA). They signed a deal 2022 that paved the way for the recent unionizations at Bethesda and WoW, and as someone involved and invested in the labor movement (a worker) I'm very curious about what the process was like getting that signed. Who reached out first, CWA or Microsoft? Did the union have to make any concessions in terms of the scope of bargaining, or were they able to ride on endorsing the Activsion acquisition? Does the agreement cover only workers filing to be represented by CWA or would Microsoft recognize an independent union? I'd be curious to hear the panel's thoughts on the games media's role in the labor movement and vice-versa, how could the labor movement play a role in shaping the games media landscape? Could a collective bargaining framework have softened the blow of GI's tragic closure? Thanks for all the work y'all have done in this space and here's to the next adventure!

Hella

What's the biggest thing you would put down a sink food disposal?

Alex Britt

When it feels like everything you're passionate about is dimming, what are your touch points/north stars that remind you why you're doing what you do to begin with? What charges the battery in the back?

Catherine Broxton

Just a heads up, I don't think Jacob Geller is going to be on the podcast this week.

Michael Berry

What was it about the Game Informer workplace culture that fostered such a deep camaraderie among the team members over the years?

Quillgrim

Hey y’all! I’m sure you’re going to get a billion of these, but I loved reading GameInformer as a kid. My parents didn’t have the money to buy me games, so reading about them in the magazine was a great alternative. I got my own sub in college and later paid it forward by letting my 6th grade English students read them! What did you all read as kids (elementary to middle school)? And what was your gateway into wanting to read about games? I appreciate all that GI did and look forward to what everyone will do afterward!

CaffeineDad

Hey MinnMaxers and ex-GI folks, if Two Player Productions were able to work with any studio to create a Psychodyssey-level documentary, who would you want to choose? Could also be fun to include specific past time periods, for example a documentary inside of Capcom during the making of the original Resident Evil 4, which changed drastically from its original concept to final version.

Michael Lane

Hey yall First I just want to say that I’ve loved game informer since I was a kid. I wasn’t even much of a gamer but I always anticipated getting the magazine in the mail. Thank you for all your hard work over the years. My question is what game do you replay the most? And what’s a game you wish you could replay?

Sean

Hi all, What event at the Olympics would be the worst to suddenly appear at the beggining of and have to compete in?

Peter Slater

To Charles, Alex, Kyle, and Marcus: Thank you! I hope your future endeavors bring you fulfillment. A quick question though for all: If you could adopt Sonic's health system, rings being your lifeblood, would you do it?

Michael Berry

Which do you like more: Deku or Koroks?

Tokyo Game Life

Such a devastating loss for GI and the gaming industry. My question: what exciting thing on the horizon is the biggest bummer because it won’t come to fruition?

Andrew Lyman

Hello, cohorts! I'm a bit of an older gamer and I've begun to think of the future of my gaming "career". I'm hoping and somewhat expecting that as we all age, there will be more and better ways for us to interact with video game-like experiences. My friends and I have our LAN party in the twin cities coming up, which is now going on year 24 and I can see how much better some of the kids compete in certain action-based games. It's a true reminder that we can't stay skilled forever, especially with how we currently play our games. Do any of you worry, if even slightly, about your inevitable gaming skills diminishing over time? Good day to you all. <Mars

Mars Barrow

The end of a major aspect of your life can bring with it opportunities unforseen. The freedom to chase new passions, a chance to travel, a change of career etc. Has the end of game informer provided you with an opportunity to do something you may never have been able to do before?

Bryce Blackmore

In the wake of the very depressing loss of GI, it got me thinking about the lost eras of games media that most affected me. I think back on the late 90s EGMs that I read hundreds of times over; coming home from college classes and watching G4 every day; and more recently, that perfect still-in-person period of Giant Bomb East with Dan, Vinny, Alex, and Abby. With that said, what lost games media periods or pieces are you most nostalgic for and how did they impact you?

Daniel Bruner

Two part question: What was your first GI that you owned (referencing the cover)? What was you favorite GI cover and why?

Pablo Castillo

What’s the dumbest, most annoying song that gets stuck in your head? For me, it’s “Rap is Crap,” which was part of some feud in WCW wrestling in the late 90s. Source: https://youtu.be/1_f45doHbh4?si=Mw7giLEqfrHZWgzQ

Travis in Fargo

Hey Kyle and Marcus, any chance of you guys finishing up your Majora’s Mask playthrough on your own channels or anything? I’ve been watching the VODs first thing Monday morning as a way to start my week since January and it’s always been a bright spot in my week.

aFamiliarSpirit

Which cohort (or current podcast guest) would be most likely to medal in an Olympic sport? I know you all *presumably* have very low odds but who has the highest odds and in what sport? Can’t wait to find out that Kyle is really good at beach volleyball or something. PS RIP GI

Limp Bizquick

What’s your favorite instance of having worlds colliding? I just realized that I work for the same org as Jacob Geller’s dad, which made me do a double take. Also do you think his dad would be more proud or confused if I said I liked his son’s work?

Justin Chen

Hello MinnMax, What's the highest you've ever been on an online leaderboard? My dad was really into hexic hd during the 360 generation and I remember him being top 10 in the word at one point. PS. Sorry to the crew about what happened with GI. GI was my main source for gaming news when I was kid/teen and I'm sad to see it go.

Michael Griffin

Can I use my question to clarify something from last episode. When discussing Nine Sols developer Red Candle it was said that they are a Chinese developer who's game got taken off stores for a Winnie the pooh joke. So they are a Taiwanese developer- definitely not Chinese. One of the easter eggs in their game Devotion is a poster containing the words "Xi Jinping" next to "Winnie the Pooh", in an ancient style of writing. Winnie the Pooh has been censored on Chinese search engines and social media since 2017, after bloggers humorusly began comparing Mr Xi to the children's story book and film character. So it was an act of political silencing specifically.

Graham Walker

Howdy Minns and Maxers! I recently finished Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, and while I absolutely had a blast, it felt like the experience was constantly getting slowed down to make you play the minigames. Some like Queen’s Blood and Chocobo Racing were fun, but others were a drag, which got me wondering: what is your personal threshold for when minigames harm the experience rather than benefit it? How many minigames are too many?

TwilightShadow

WAZZZUP! As someone who came to game informer after discovering Minnmax I was delighted to watch what felt like endless content like replay through the pandemic. I may not be a fan since the early 00’s but know I appreciated all you did ! Thank you for all the replays and helping me find the games I could never find but had some random detail about it. Shoutout to all the Players !

Tonytheswordsman

A question for the team, but especially Jacob Geller: I was wondering if you have ever seen the movie Reign Over Me and if so, did you know that there is a Shadow of the Colossus reference?

Neal McMahon

Any ideas for a Mario Party replacement I can bet on? My wife and I currently gamble our least favorite chores on a nightly game of Mario Party. Winner gets to choose a chore for the loser. Only problem is the computer keeps kicking our ass. It doesn’t matter how “easy” we set the difficulty to, I almost always loose and I’m stuck cleaning out the litter box. Would love a quick and simple game that’s competitive but not entirely skill based. Any platform as long as it’s fun to play. Thanks!

L2 Larson

Sorry about GI ya'll, hope everyone lands on their feet. My question is if you could go back in time to say the year 2000, how could Gamestop have evolved to be a successful company today instead of shooting themselves in the foot roughly 900 times since then? Should they have pivoted to a digital game store and competed with Steam? Invested more in Game Informer and competed with IGN and Gamespot? Shift towards a more diverse store like a Best Buy or maybe more like a Newbury Comics? Or could NOTHING save the dumbasses over there?

RickyWinterborn

Hello all, Screw GameStop! Thank you.

SlyCut

Where is the weirdest/most interesting place you’ve heard of someone reading a Gameinformer issue?

Treethan

Returnal got me hooked on the R1 dash. I still use circle in From Software games, though.

SlyCut

What happened to the game informer vault?

David Kelly

Hi all, I work with kids and i have noticed that while kost of them are gamers, very few of them actuall purchase games. Almost all of them play exclusively free to play games like fortnite and roblox. Does this worry you like it does me?

PhillyYeetSteak

With the end of GameInformer, what could a hypothetical expanded MinnMax look like, where you take on a bunch of the recently layed-off as new MinnMax staff? No promises, just hypothetical, but I bet the community would step up to cover a lot more cost than you'd imagine. We're all devastated and eager to help

Jesse Repak

Hey all! I've always been in awe at all of the cool stuff I see in the background of videos produced in the Game Informer offices. If you could take one item from the office, what would it be and why? Best of luck to all the GI staff. You folks are the best!

FriedSPAM

When was the funniest moment working for GI?

Poofydoo

With all the negativity around the industry at the moment, let's spread some positivity: What is one thing you admire in each of your co-hosts?

Thomas George

Just a missed joke opportunity: When talking about Steamworld Heist 2, Jacob said it was based around going through doors instead of clearing a fog of war. And no one said “fog of doors”

Poofydoo

Did anyone at Game Informer realize they had a “double fine productions” level of documentarian in their midst? As Ben seemingly recorded enough for a feature length Blu-ray release just for fun. Ps. A Blu-ray I would totally buy

BacklogBusters

Hello Minn Max crew, and mostly Ben for this one ! You've mentioned coming to Quebec on a trip not too long ago and have tried pronouncing our world famous swears a couple of times since then. Since they were (sadly) not quite up to snuff, I thought I'd humbly offer an guide to Quebec swears for the American aficionado to see if it can make you a bit better in Québécois ! Here's a non-exhaustive list of how to pronounce the most useful swears : - Calisse = Kaw-Lease Def : It simply means a Chalice. - Tabarnak = Ta-Bar-Knack Def : It comes from the word «tabernacle», the big box in a church containing the ciborium and the sacramental bread (also named Host in english it seems). - Esti = Eh-Stee Def : «Hostie» is the sacrmental bread. Mess up the word a bit and you get «Eh-Stee». - Criss = Chris Def : It's simply derived from «Christ». - Ciboire = See-Bwar This is the ciborium in english. It is a receptacle made for holding the sacramental brad. And the beauty of it all is that they can all be compounded together in the most satisfying release of frustration you can utter : Eh-Stee de Kaw-Lease de Ta-Bar-Knack de Chris de See-Bwar ! As always, love the show and you guys rock. Big love from Montréal! - Fred

If scientists told us that fruits and vegetables were conscious beings, would you be able to keep eating them, or stop immediately?

Mike Lynch

Hello all, Please do the world a favor and rank these words by how much they represent from the least to the greatest. Lot Some Many Couple Several Few Ton Bunch Context sentence: I have (a) blank (of) video games.

SlyCut

It's hard to know what to say when something so shocking and cowardly happens. To Charles, Marcus and Alex - if you decided to start your own patreon, then I'd back you all in an instant. Your voices have been a constant while walking my dog, traveling to work, or in the gym and when you decide to start again, whether it's together or separately, I will be there to listen.

Tom K

How pessimistic (or optimistic) are you feeling about games journalism as a career right now? Are any of you calling it quits?

Chandler

What’s your favorite Mandela Effect… effect?

Travis in Fargo

All the well wishes to the Game Informer crew, you guys are the best! Now for the question: What is your favorite physical video game object you own? I could be a game, a game case design, a pre-order bonus, some merch, or any other video game related thing.

Shawninator

With game informer shutdown some might just be eagerly waiting to see their favorite writers and personalities jump into other ventures, but can some of you veterans outline what are some of the unseen losses for losing the traditional institutions in games media?

Cody Allison

Game Informer has sadly been put out to pasture, but what about hit sub-publication: Game Infarcer? What of Darth Clark, Leo Vader's father?

Vilis

Just a comment: I don't understand GameStop's angle. Even from a pure business perspective, I would think the value add to their Pro subscription (or whatever it's called now) would make GI worth it's cost. GameStop knows subscription models are popular and considered to be the future of business, how are they justifying that model without GI? Madness.

KiwiTheGoo

Hey guys, just wanna give some love first to Alex, Marcus and the rest of the GI team, you guys have were always a pleasure to have in my life, and I hope your next steps are fruitful and bring you as much joy as you’ve brought to mine. Question time Super replays have always been my comfort show, from overblood to silent hill, they always brighten my day no matter what. Anyway what are some of your favorite comfort shows and what makes them special to you?

Aaron Waltz

What’s a video game you love but didn’t know about until a games publication informed you about it?

When it was announced that GI was being shut down I saw plenty of comments sharing the sentiment that "the writing was on the wall" with the state of physical media and games journalism today. Maybe I was reading too much into things, but I always got the sense that Gamestop management was hindering growth and development of the magazine more than helping. Is there a world where GI could have been successful functioning independently without Gamestop ownership or under a different owner, or is the current games journalism landscape simply unsustainable? Love all the work the past and current crew put out, and shout out to all the behind the scenes people at GI whose names and faces I may not be familiar with but I know were vital in keeping things running

Nate Voris

What would you do for a career if Minnmax imploded RIGHT THIS SECOND?

Cody Collins

Congrats, you’ve been elected the Chancellor of Video Games (North America), and are tasked with standardizing controllers across all systems. Your decision is binding. What are the buttons called, what colors, and where are they located?

Aging_Poorly

Have you ever remapped your controls ? Silly question but I made the move to bumper jumper and I can never go back

Qax

The first podcast that I sent in questions to was the GI Show. Where do you send in questions to? Viva la game informer!

Thom Blackburn

Wasssup Minnies and Maxies I went back saw tour of the GI vault from way back. My question is how do you all display your games? Alphabetical? By color? Genre? Also do you keep out your collection for older systems or do those go to storage? Best wishes to you all!

betoq92 .

Hey Minnmaxers! I left my job in July, and I'm looking to start interviewing again soon. The position seemed perfect on paper, but the longer I worked there, the more it felt like the company wasn't right for me. Does the team have any red flags for a company during the interview process, on the part of the interviewee? If so, how do you sus them out? Thanks!

Julie Miner

You stand in a dank dungeon, surrounded by fallen enemies. In your hand is the treasure you sought: the hilt of an ancient weapon. In your mind you hear a whisper: "Allow me to gaze into your soul and my form shall change to reflect your inner truth." Based on your personality and inclinations, what form does this weapon turn into? Are you a rapier kinda person? Does the weapon become nunchuks?

GBC

Hello! What is a weird thing you all do to save time? Do you brush your teeth in the shower? Watch shows and play Switch while on an exercise bike? Play Hearthstone and Marvel Snap at the same time? Just me? Thanks and sending love to all those affected at Game Informer!

Rikimaru

Have you ever enjoyed a fake out? I ask to reminisce one of my favorite GI moments which was the Brutal Legend super replay fake out for Sonic 06. I was enjoying the chaos that sonic had wrought on Andrew, Kyle, Joe and Ben and was sad to see them only end with Sonic's storyline. But my sadness turned to joy as the hedgehog pulled them back in to finish the game. In the words of The Devil "yes this is excellent"

Troy Ellison

Hey all! Are there any lies your parents told you as children that you believed? Like it's illegal to drive with cabin lights on in a car or that seed you ate is going to grow into a plant in your belly. Conversely, are there any that you have told your children or will want to?

whitemex

Grew up with GI and heartbroken to see it go. Hope everyone lands on their feet and can keep gaming!

Jordan Greer

It's my fiancee's birthday on Thursday, and I think I've absolutely smashed her Birthday Presents. What is the best gift you've ever given someone and what was their reaction?

Harrison Holt

Hey crew what do you considered to be the most iconic issue of the game informer magazine

Robert Sullivan

No question - just wishing the team good luck on their search for new roles. GI was such an important part of my life - it started the year I was born. I've had an active sub for years, and when I was a kid i used to bike to my local game store to pick up that months issue. will miss it terribly, but plan to follow all the journalists wherever they land!

Nicolas T.

If a game studio hired you to create a game based on your last awkward social interaction, what kind of game would it be?

james maynard

Hi crew. Wishing the best for the recently former GI team and hope you all land on your feet quickly. Has anyone in this podcast group contributed to the GI vault? If so, what did you contribute? If not, whats your favorite contribution that happened during your time, whether it was yours or someone elses?

Boondock-Bandit

Hey gang, I join the chorus of fans at home and abroad gutted by the GI news. I’m really looking forward to hearing stories and perspectives about the best of GI in the coming weeks. My question is simple; what was one feature you loved that got the closest to being shelved, but ultimately came out and was well received? Nothing but love to everyone in and around GI and I hope things turn around soon!

Infi

Let’s get morbid! What song do you want playing on your deathbed?

Bradley-J

So… describe the meeting in movie references. I’m imagining it was like a Tommy in Goodfellas type thing, but no one seems too surprised so was it like an “andys birthday party was moved to today” thing?

Zane Dukes

Hey Minnformers, This question is in regards to the video crew at GI. How often would you look for reposted content or issue strikes to youtube channels? I know of one youtuber who used a screenshot of GI exclusive coverage in their discussion video and received a warning email from Ben. I didn't know if this was something that the crew spent much manpower on or just a case by case basis. Cheers and best of luck to all the GI staff!

Drake Heinhorst

One of the things I used the site for was listening to old episodes of the GI Show podcast in the Matt Helgeson era before they were uploaded to YouTube. Any chance these were archived anywhere? It'd be such a shame to permanently lose stuff like the Skyward Sword episode and Gamer Gorilla Radio. On that topic, do you have a favorite episode of the GI Show and how many episodes was the final run?

Andrew Burnes

I been receiving GI monthly since the 90s. I subscribed for 2 years when the magazine opened up personal subscriptions without power up rewards attached. (Now I’m calling my credit card to get that money back because GameStop can’t have it). I fought my mom when she wanted me to throw my old magazines away. I LOVED GI. What’s frustrating is in seeing reactions on the internet to the closing of GI, so many people remember it fondly from their childhood but stopped subscribing at some point or never signed up when GI opened subscriptions. GameStops horrible horrible management aside I’m genuinely curious what everyone thinks could have been the answer to keep things alive. Print media is has been suffering for years, games media has faced so many headwinds. To be clear I’m so pro journalism and outlets but short of collectively screaming at random people on the street to buy a newspaper and support a magazine what can we do? I feel like people think Twitter or Reddit is all the info they need and it’s “free” but they miss out on the quality and nuance. It’s so f**king frustrating. GameInformer is Dead. Long Live GameInformer.

Admiral Ackbar's Snackbar

Hey, y’all! I’m a huge fan of the electronic toucan from the Replay room. I loved that it was reminiscent of those drinking bird office decorations. What was your favorite Game Informer prop/statue, etc, and why?

The Sleepy MailMan

If MinnMax were to start its own magazine, would it be called the MinnMag?

Dylan Caudill

Hello, what is everyone’s best relationship advice? Thank you so much for doing the podcast.

Adam Castellanos

Does the closure of Game Informer make you think of the preservation of minnmax? Does minnmax have a server to backup all the content?

BEEFCAKE

One of my favorite Super Replay series was Mega Man Legends 2 with Capcom's Greg Moore lending his inside knowledge along the way. If you could snap your fingers and make a MinnMax equivalent of a Super Replay happen with any industry figure, who would it be and what game would you play together?

Tyler Sticka

Hey MinnMax! If we’re looking at the overall reception and player count in the closed beta, Marvel Rivals is looking to do pretty well for itself when it fully releases. However, Marvel’s Midnight Suns, a game that came out not too long ago where you control a roster of Marvel heroes with unique abilities in a fun gameplay loop is often referred to as an “overlooked gem”. What is Rivals doing that Midnight Suns couldn’t quite achieve? Is it the genre? The price point? Or something else? Thanks! Graham

Graham Gilmore

First of all, I had no idea that my $5 sub got me access to the extended cuts of things on Patreon. The podcast feed is great, but its been really nice to take a look at the extended cut of the GameInformer Office Tour. Along those same lines...I'm super ticked off at GameStop for shutting things down. And they way they did it seems so scummy. (I had a two year sub to the magazine!) I already feel bitter about it and I don't think I'll ever purchase something from GameStop again. But, MinnMax's presence online has not been combative, mean, or feisty at all! Once again, I feel MinnMax's defining characteristic is leading the charge: passion. Y'alls approach isn't to crap on what sucked about the experience, but to celebrate what was special about all of the history. Where does that come from? Is it a personal preference or commitment? Is it something you learned from someone you respect? Do you just think it creates better content? Why's "passion" the driving force behind stuff at MinnMax?

Daniel Doran

Shout out to the old Game Informer crew on this week’s show, hope you guys are well and taking care of yourself. Saving my big GI history question for next week so in that case, in this frustrating time for you all, what is your current comfort thing? Could be a game, a movie, a book, or just an object? What is that unique thing that you look forward to every day that brings you an extra amount of comfort?

Tom Rickard

Dude bread. There's so many more options there's no question

BEEFCAKE

Hello everyone, how are yall doing ? So my question came to me after playing fields of mistria and seeing how much innovation there is to a genre of game which has been around for quite sometime, what are some games that despite the genre of the game being around for a while has surprised you in different ways, with mechanics or unique twists ? Ps: I'm loving my time with fields of mistria thank you so much for putting this game on everyone's radar

Torugos2

When you're facing a lull in new games and decide to go to the backlog how do you decide what to play? Specifically whether it's going back to an old favorite or something new to you?

Dr Gonzo

Die Hard or Die Slow, Hey who’s up for a would you rather question? Would you rather live life 2 times faster or live life 3 times slower? So the rules are that you are the only one affected by the time change. Everyone around you ages and moves at normal speed. The physics of things you touch also remain the same. So think about driving, interacting with technology, or just doing everyday simple task. 2 times faster or 3 times slower?

Orryn Echols

When I was a kid my grandmother's DVD player wouldn't play certain disc's. So I took all the DVDs and tested to see if they would play. I found out that it was only Sony pictures movies that wouldn't work on the SONY DVD player and it still bothers me. Have you all ever done an at home experiment to figure something out like this? Cheers!

Kevin Kuper

Hey gang! Have any of you played the game "creatures" back in the day, did you understand any of it? Young me, and even upon replaying it years later I could not figure out how to teach the creatures how to act or talk.

Vincent K.

*by anyone, some entity, not necessarily the greater MinnMax family

Voivod McGarnagle

What's the best meal/night out Game Informer paid for?

Josh LaBaw

Hey MinnMax and guests, one of the things I’ll miss from game informer are the game infarcer parody articles. Which ones were your favorite over the years?

Amador Lopez

Who do you want to play you in Cover Story: The Game Informer Movie? Feel free to nominate roles for other GI folks not on the pod this week.

Joe Kafchinski

Hi Mimbos, Disregard if not answerable or not knowable but (to your knowledge) what would be the feasibility of GI being bought off of or carved out of Gamestop? Hugs and kisses, VM

Voivod McGarnagle

Hello Friends, Just want to say thank you for all your work at G.I. These copies I have held tightly to will continue to carry your legacies. My question for you, what’s the coolest experience that working at G.I gave you? Could be an interview, an event, people, location visits. Anything! Respect to you all and good luck with your future adventures!

CptCobblePot

Hey all! Movies and TV shows seem to get video game adaptations all the time, but outside of The Witcher it doesn't seem like many developers pull from books very often. What book or series would you guys most like to see adapted into a video game? For me it would be Brandon Sandersons Mistborn series. Interesting characters, a great plot premise (bad guy actually won) and a really unique magic system. Thanks!

Austin smith

If you could National Lampoon Christmas Vacation Ryan Cohen, what would you want to say or do?

The Nute

Hey all! In last weeks episode Leo briefly talked about NYT Connections, and I just wanted to take a moment to tell you all about Only Connect, the British game show that NYT was "inspired by" when they created connections. It's a lateral thinking gameshow about connecting various pieces of trivia that's entering its 20th season this week, and I've been lucky enough to be one of its main writers for the last several years now. It's truly the best thing I've ever been involved in making, if you like Connections and quirky British TV shows you owe it to yourself to watch some episodes on Youtube. (Link to an episode from a few years back: https://youtu.be/75SGpvYYnfI?list=PLLHHvDyqYfgdb3qQgItImr4GtQyrOILog&t=225) All the best, Alex McMillan

Alex McMillan

What e-sports (or other game challenges à la the NES challenges that recently came out) would you put in a digital Olympics?

Gabriel Paree-Huff

Hey you guys know the pickle brand Vlasic? Everything I see the name I immediately sing "Baby you're so 'Vlasic'!" instead of Classic. Wouldn't this be genius marketing for vlasic pickles?! Do yall have any songs you sing when you see the name of a brand?

Muffyn Crumbs

Marcus, what is your favorite thing about Majora’s Mask, and if you had a mask, what would be its power?

Lance Roberson

Where is your favorite place to buy clothes?

Victor Pham

If you could relive any day at the GI office, what would it consist of?

Ben Shively

Hey MinnMaxers, With all the long-form story telling in the world today from Marvel and Star Wars movies, to long running tv series like Breaking Bad and the Walking Dead, to beloved book series like Harry Potter or John Grisham legal/thriller novels—are video games the true “longest form” of story telling available? Looking at the Trails series or Like a Dragon series, you could argue that there could be well over a thousand hours involved in everything put together vs a tv series where it’s maybe 70 hours for 7 seasons. As gamers, do we hold that throne? What are your thoughts?

Neal McMahon

If you could go back in time and play any game again for the first time again… what game would it be?

Ryan Sparks

What food do you think tastes better plain with nothing added to it? Fresh cooked bread out of an oven or white rice out of a rice cooker? Probably biggest debate my friends and I ever had.

Nicolas D'Alessio

Especially for the GI crew but anyone can answer, how much do you engage with print media these days? Do you have magazine subscriptions? Do you read articles anywhere, even online? I feel like the digitization of the marketing machine killed much of my interest in gaming news media; these days I only really watch and read official sources and then discuss news on forums- without meaning to, I bypass articles entirely. Are your experiences similar, or wildly different?

Joshua Ayers

Yo how are for honor and the UFC games not fighting games? this is something I can never wrap my head around and I refuse to look up gameplay of either because the thought experiment is most likely far more interesting than either of those game

Eli Medina

Do you think human beings have any weird, latent abilities that we don’t know about yet?
