Submit Your Comments For The Deepest Dive On Final Fantasy VII Remake

It's time, everybody! Pencils down! On Wednesday we're releasing The Deepest Dive on Final Fantasy VII Remake, our community-fueled game club that covers everything in the game up through Chapter 4 and we need your thoughts. We know there are a lot of new folks joining us for this game club, so thank you for your participation! This is going to be fun. For The Deepest Dive we're combining the cohorts JeffM and Kyle with The Celebration of Final Fantasy VII crew Ronnie and Grant.

Please leave your short and specific comments below on whatever caught your interest up through Chapter 4, so right before you get on the train with Tifa and Barret to bomb Mako Reactor 5. Please do not include anything beyond Chapter 4! We're looking for your favorite line, character, combat strategy, visual detail, etc... get as specific as possible. The more specific and unique your comment, the higher likelihood we'll read it on the show. We'll stop collecting comments on Tuesday around noon.

At this point, here's our roadmap for game club discussions...

4/15 - Chapters 1-4

4/22 - Chapters 5-9

4/29 - Chapters 10-14

5/6 - The Grand Finale

Also, when you pick up the Chocobo & Moogle summoning materia, Barret goes, "Man, I wonder what kind of bad ass is gonna pop out of this one !" Made me lol.

Walking through a street in Sector 5, I heard an old man telling kids he was part of the construction crew that built the discs. After talking to a quest-giver I walked back down the street and heard those kids say, "I wish I was alive back then to help build the discs ! Yeah that would've been so cool !" This was such a natural implementation of dynamic dialogue. I wasn't forced to stand and listen to a whole conversation, but rather the conversation is presumed continued in my absence. As if Midgar isn't brought to life enough by stunning visuals, little touches like that are making my experience so surreal.

The Sahagins have a move called Jump that, I believe, is the same as one of Cid’s Limit breaks in the original game.

Just wanted to point out how much delight I got out of seeing the yellow flower in the bottle that Cloud gave to Tifa (that he received from Aeris.) If you didn't know, it's located behind the booth in Seventh Heaven, next to the cash register. I really love all the small details in this game. :D

I loved Chapter 2's music, because it seemed to take a page out of the same book that Monster Hunter World did. We now have two versions of the battle theme: Active and Passive. It's a great way of keeping the energy and urgency throughout, even when you aren't in combat, and also rolls into the higher energy of combat well!

I really enjoyed the moment when Jessie takes Biggs and Wedge in to see her parents and Cloud sneaks in the back door to take her father’s Shinra ID. The trope of having a character execute a plan as another character explains the plan via voiceover is super common in movies, especially heist scenes, but I can’t remember playing through something similar in a game. This whole excursion does a fantastic job of developing the B-tier Avalanche crew.

After saving Johnny Tifa says we have to go before they wake up. Does that mean even with the huge sword we're not killing anyone. Just simply knock them out???

As someone that missed the boat on the original. Do the people that have played the original, know what the hell is with the dementors? (A yes or no will suffice)

First time on FF7. Everyone says Cloud is not very likeable for alot at the start. I'm not getting this. They seem to be trying to portray him as a bit of a dick but it seems like every one is being a dick to him from my view. 'Look at his massive sword but he has no skills' 'I have skills' 'Hey be nice' What? Who's the one not being nice here?

In Seventh Heaven there is a picture on the wall of another bar? Why? Or is it the same bar? Even more why?
