Dr. Who Reaction 15x8 - The Reality War

Comments

I've only now just gotten round to watching this as I've been so horrifically busy with University but alas, finally got round to it haha. Very beyond sad to have this franchise end for now, very much a bittersweet feeling. I gotta say I'm extremely conflicted about Billie Piper coming back just like you. I absolutely love the actress and have no doubt she'd be a great Doctor (if thats the role shes playing), it just feels like a quick cash grab because the writers didn't know what to do. Its really sad in my opinion because I feel as though the writing has gotten so much worse as time has gotten on, comparing these last few series' to.. for example Series 11. Don't get me wrong the episodes are enjoyable but TO ME it just doesn't really feel like Doctor Who and I really cant pin point why that is. Ncuti was a fabulous Doctor and I truly wish the writers did him more justice, especially after sandwiching him between David and Billie like that. It just felt wrong? Either way, I'm glad to have taken this journey with you and I'll 100% follow you over to whatever other things you're doing on YouTube! :D

ps If you are still reading comments as this point. In Space Babies Poppy asks the Doctor if he and Ruby are mummy and daddy. He says no but I wish we were. I'm quoting from memory her so it may not be word for word. Anyway, this may be why she (a real baby) turned up in Wish World

I thought I would have a lot more to say when you got here but this episode just burns me out so much. I felt just like you did when I first watched it, exhausted. Ncuti's era feels like it barely started and it's already cut short.. that will always be really tragic and wasted to me and it's all because Disney would not confirm whether they're staying or not. They still haven't, by the way. As for the Rose thing, they've been very sneaky not saying for sure whether Billie Piper is The Doctor, she's uncredited so far and not confirmed. I don't think they have a plan to be honest, it seemed like a desperate last minute thing. You are not alone in feeling baffled by it, we JUST had David Tennant come back not that long ago and now we're doing the familiar face thing again and it being Rose just feels wrong? I want the show to look forward. I would have preferred they just cut to black when Ncuti regenerated. I loved seeing Jodie though, that's the only part of the episode I actually loved.

The Heavenly Void

Well then.... Omega looked very different when we saw him back in the seventies. Just a man with a mask on. They did explain how he changed but I know a lot of people were disappointed. The original ending did not include a regeneration as Ncuti wasn't leaving. When they knew he was they shot a lot of extra scenes. Whether that included the scene in the Tardis where Poppy disappears I don't know but she must have disappeared somehow because they shot a scene with a party at UNIT HQ where they cut to Susan standing in the corner with Poppy and saying "come along Poppy" before leaving. And the others don't see either of them. The BBC included this in the DVD as an extra so it isn't just a rumour. I assume that Poppy was still the Doctor's daughter in this version. And maybe Susan's mother. The original e[isode would probably have been about 15 minutes shorter. Nobody knows if Billie Piper id the new Doctor. Even Billie Piper doesn't know. She was asked to film something at the last moment. Probably just to grab our attention. They didn't call her The Doctor in the credits. Before the leaves, Anita says something about "The Boss". That must have been intended to be followed up somehow. Maybe it will be and maybe it won't. There used to be a British comedy show called The Two Ronnies. At the end they would say "it's goodnight from me and it's goodnight from him". The neighbour Rani was making a joke by talking about the two Ranis. I liked a lot of this episode but I too felt that the defeat of the Ranis and Omega was too rapid and the extra scenes made it too long. Loved seeing Jodie again though. I have loved your reactions and I look forward to the new ones.
