Dr. Who Reaction 13X5 - Survivors of the Flux

Comments

you're definitely right to feel this way. as people have probably pointed out Flux was originally supposed to be about 8 episodes so i feel like this episode is trying to cover 2 episodes worth of stuff.

The Heavenly Void

"I'm very good at pulling rabbits out of hats.", "I have no rabbits.", "It's a metaphor.", "Or hats.", "Honestly, it doesn't matter.", The Doctor and the Ood, "Survivors of the Flux" You're right - there's a lot of stuff to try to piece together in this episode. But, among all the chaos, it is nice to see an Ood again. "Why do I have to be the stowaway?", Dan, "Survivors of the Flux" The independent adventures of our fam is quite fun - and a much needed rest between all the complicated plot stuff the other characters are involved with. "Ah, I'm teasing you again! I don't get to tease people much.", Kumar, "Survivors of the Flux" The Nepalese seer is a strange character to have in the episode. And he has a sense of humour - I like that from a seer. "I prefer to be called Grand Serpent.", Prentis, "Survivors of the Flux" For clarification, the creepy guy who is interfering with UNIT and kills people by projecting the nasty snake-like creature from his body, is known as "The Grand Serpent" - that's how he was introduced to us in the earlier episode when Vinder was his bodyguard. However, he has been calling himself "Prentis" while he's been intefering with UNIT on Earth. There is a nice reference to a pre-UNIT Classic Who story when he's talking to the UNIT guy. It's always fun to get Classic Who references for us Classic Who fans. "Lethbridge-Stewart here. I want a call to the RAF, please.", Alastair Lethbridge-Stewart, "Survivors of the Flux" We hear the Brigadier - our Brigadier! - off-screen talking on the phone. We love the Brig! Of course he's not the Brig yet - this is 1967 and he's a Corporal (and that is very strange - it's way too low a rank - he probably should have been a Captain or a Colonel or something). The audio is taken from a Classic Who story from 1971 and so it is the actual original actor speaking - and the actor is listed in the credits. "That's not a phrase that sits well in my family, or UNIT itself.", Kate Stewart, "Survivors of the Flux" And we love Kate as well - along with another reference to the Brig (we love the Brig!). We haven't seen Kate since that Zygon business back in Series 9. And we also get a mention of Osgood thrown in for good measure. "Fetch your dog.", Kumar, "Survivors of the Flux"
