I don't know if this link will work, but there is a Vietnamese lady on YouTube who lives in Germany with her German boyfriend and she posts a lot of videos and shorts about their life and the cultural differences. This is a very short clip (if it works) about going to Octoberfest. Worth a watch just for the boyfriend's lovely singing voice which we hear too briefly. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/wu-WjXljJ7Y

What a great summary. I can only agree with you. :) Apart from the fact that I liked this episode more than the one last week :)

I can imagine not many people like the first episode more than the second, me included. But thanks for sharing anyways. Always love to hear about different opinions. :) And I´m very glad I didn´t freak up that First Doctor scene. I first thought I did, when I thought that it was an older version of Nardoile. But the moment I recognised my mind was blown :) Oh so you´re visiting October Fest in Munich I guess :D Well, have fun and come back happy and healthy. Can´t wait to hear, if you enjoyed it :) (I personally don´t like the Octoberfest, and I don´t like Bavaria as a whole :D and also I don´t drink alcohol or eat Wurst, but I hope you´ll enjoy it either way :D )

Typical me, that I only recognized that David sentence right there :D Thanks for explaining all of the other ones :) I agree with you that this episode is great from start to finish, but looking back at the whole series, in my perspective that Story doesn´t make up for it. Series 10 in my eyes is the worst so far, unfortunately. I really hope we´ll bring some of the flavor back next Series. I´d love to see more great episodes :)

I personally don´t really care how companions end up, if their story is written in a way that seems logical, and in my perspective this is what happened here. So I´m glad for Bill, even though I wasn´t really close with her. Yeah I noticed those cuts, while rewatching the episode. They were done so well, unfortunately I didn´t really see them in the reaction. To be honest, I couldn´t tell either, which one of those speeches is the best :D Ok.... so far, so cryptic :D I am looking forward to finding out what "It will be partially explained" really means :D Happy Christmas to you, too :)

Well here we are, I had forgotten how emotional this episode is. Yes the doctor’s speech is very moving and just underlines once again what a brilliant actor Peter is. I also loved the batshitteryness of Missy and the Master destroying each other, the irony not lost on them either. Comic relief Matt Lucas (Nardole) proving that he is pretty good at dramatic stuff too. The sadness of Bill and the doctor’s last moments together just about finished me off. Not as good as last weeks episode imo, but pretty good. Certainly the two stories combined are worth a 10.0. xx

While still a huge and memorable episode, this doesn't quite match Part 1 for me. It's not that it does anything wrong, it's just not as tight plot-wise. Nevertheless ,the final fifteen minutes are devastating and powerfully depicted. I was worried you may not have recognised the First Doctor, (in the way you didn't recognise Sarah Jane when she appeared in Genesis of the Daleks) but your reaction was absolutely perfect :) A 9/10 episode for me...and another surprise cliff-hanger! Btw, if you want to take a week off to recover - that's quite all right with me, as I will be on holiday next week in GERMANY - doing typical German things: drinking beer, eating Wurst, drinking beer, and drinking even more beer. Wish me luck!

Before i get into it a couple of points. I think the scene between Bill and the Doctor not knowing what to say is good. Just the fact that when it comes to it they can't think of final words. Also when the Doctor wakes up in the Tardis his first line about Sontarans was the first words spoken by the 4th Doctor after he regenerated. Then there was David's line, I don't want to go, and final the 11th Doctor line about ,when the Doctor was me, so there three call backs there to previous regenerations. Finally, this was actually surpose to be Capaldi's last story with him regenerating at the end. But Moffett was asked to stay on to do the Christmas story otherwise we wouldn't have had one. I know I said a couple of weeks back on how I found series 10 a bit boring on repeated viewing but this story just makes up for it so much. I love that speech by the Doctor. The scene with Nardole saying goodbye to the Doctor and Bill is lovely. Then everything from when Heather shows up to save Bill. Then we also end up getting that flash back of all the previous companions and then the first Doctor shows up. Everything in the second end of this episode is gold. It's easily 5/5 for me and I rank it 4th/140. That means my top five currently look like this: 5 - Still to come 4 - World Enough and Time/ The Doctor Falls 3 -The Empty Child / The Doctor Dances 2 - The Stolen Planet/ Journey’s End 1 - Day of the Doctor That said I'm tempted to move this story up to 3rd place. It's been a long week having to wait for this reaction to drop and now another long week ahead for the next.

"You're wrong you know. Quite wrong. I never will find the words" - "I don't want to live. If I can't be me any more" - Two of the many moments in this story that break my heart. So then. I pretty much agree with you that this was a perfect episode. I know that some people don't like the second consecutive Steven Moffat finale where a companion seems to be definitively finished, only to find an escape clause ans find "a different kind of living". Personally I love it. And the fact that the way it happens was seeded in episode one of this series makes me love it all the more. Unlike yourself I did feel a bond with Bill. Clara will always be my favourite companion of New Who, just like the two schoolteachers in episode on of the classic programme will always be my favourites of that era. But Bill was a lovely contrast with her guileless attitude and her willingness to ask lots of questions and I am sad that she only had one series. It was definitely the right decision to show Bill as she appears to the others and also as she still sees herself. Some of the cuts from one to the other are breathtaking. The Doctor's speech to The Master and Missy is just wonderful. Up with the one he makes in The Zygon Inversion. I change my mind all the time abut which is better because they both seem so good. After the speech, when Missy comes in close to the Doctor to say that she won't stand with him she takes his hand his expression seems to change. A lot of people have speculated that she is somehow telling him what she is going to do. Possibly she has the blade already in her hand. Or maybe there is some secret Gallifreyan handshake like in the Freemasons! There is a reason why the Twelfth Doctor meets the First Doctor in a snowy landscape. It will be partially explained next week but not completely. I won't say any more now and not much more next time in case of retrospective spoilers. Sorry to be so cryptic. Happy Christmas!
