I love Missy. She is the best. My most favorite character apart from the doctor ones. :)
I really liked the Dalek idea that they went for in this episode. I hope they will continue with this kind of exploration of the Daleks minds in the future. :)

"Tell him 'The Bitch is Back'.", Missy, "The Witch's Familiar"
When I revisit these shows, I make a note of interesting and fun quotes. Now there was a lot of talking in this one, Davros and the Doctor, Missy and Clara, but when I went back and looked at my notes, I had only recorded quotes from Missy. That's a good character.
"Goes through armour plating like a knife through people.", Missy on the Dark Star alloy, "The Witch's Familiar"
Ouch! Interesting twist on the usual phrase.
We have seen people climing into a Dalek shell before in Classic Who (it actually happened in the very first Classic Who Dalek story), but is interesting to see someone get attached to the Dalek controls in the way Clara was. And it was a cool idea that the Dalek sayings we have become familiar with like "Exterminate" could be based on different thoughts for Clara inside the shell.
"You know what? I've just had a very clever idea.", Missy, "The Witch's Familiar"

Yes the conversation sbetween Davros and the Doctor were great :)
And I agree with Michelle, Jennas eyes are beautiful indeed. :) Haha a Phobia of people being upside down :D :D
Awww Peter is such a nice guy in real life as well. :) Him caring about kids is really sweet :)
I´d have to go back and see what my initial reaction to the Manhattan story was, I don´t think I liked it much. But during the rewatch I was sooo bored with it. And the thought that I had to go trough two episodes made it even harder for me. But I´m happy for all the people who are able to enjoy it. :)

This is a 4/5 for me and I rank it 12th/140 so very highly indeed. Missy is great, there are some great concepts and scenes. A great start to the season.

I really liked the conversations between The Doctor and Davros. The back and forth about what it is to be good, loyalty just to your "own kind", whether compassion is a weakness or not and so on. And the different perspectives or versions of what happened with the young Davros all those years ago frame the whole story brilliantly.
Michelle Gomez of course is always brilliant in the role of Missy. Paradoxically, I found the scenes with Clara inside the Dalek easier to take than the funnier Clara/Missy scenes because it is more purely horrifying. There's less "cognitive dissonance" as the term goes.
Michelle is on record as saying that Jenna Coleman was hard to act with because her eyes are too beautiful, which kept distracting her. Mind you that may have just been a good quote to throw to the fandom. She also claimed that she now has a phobia of people being upside down.
Another thing that I read or heard was that Peter Capaldi wanted to have sonic sunglasses because it would mean that kids could pretend to be The Doctor without the expense of buying a replica of the screwdriver. I love that.
It's a great episode in many ways and I'm never sure if I prefer part one or not. It is certainly one of the best Dalek stories because it goes deeper into what they are, revisits why and how they were created, and gives us some gruesome facts about how they can't actually die. And although there is not so much warfare or exterminating there is more of a feeling of jeopardy in this one than most.
I wasn't keen on the Daleks in Manhattan story either but mostly because I thought the Dalek/Human looked really stupid. Partly because it seemed to combine the least efficient aspects of both creature. Only one eye but no technology to compensate for it etc. And partly because it was so obviously just a man with a rubber mask on his head. I did like the Hooverville aspect though and Martha figuring out how to help The Doctor. I watched another reactor this week who has just got as far as that episode though and she absolutely loved it. There's no accounting for how we view these things I guess. As long as people give their reasons for liking what they like it's all good.
I'm glad you enjoyed Green Wing. It is quite mad,
