11-foot-8 bridge for BeamNG has arrived in a new Los Injurus update

You can now enjoy the 11-foot-8 bridge, in all of it's fully working glory, in BeamNG Drive.

*There is no OVER-HEIGHT MUST TURN sign yet, it'll be in soon though.

Please keep in mind the AI will be a bit buggier than usual this time around as I ran out of time to test it.

If there's too many annoying bugs I will fast-track an update in <10 days, unless of-course if this is completely busted on arrival or anything like that.

THIS RESUMES NORMAL RELEASE CADENCE OF EVERY 4~5 WEEKS.

Only obvious bug is that the one of the flat roofs of one of the buildings doesn't have a material/texture for some dumb reason (export from Maya bug) and there's some 'dark geometry' triangles on the back of some mid-rise tower block (also a bug in modeling, doesn't hurt anything).  You'll never see that roof 99% of the time and I didn't feel like holding up the beta even more or I'd be hung in town square.

A nasty bug over by the airport that was due to a non-power-of-2 texture was fixed sometime this spring, and now you can go over there and hopefully not slow down to molasses-in-January speeds.

WARNING: 6 GB DOWNLOAD!  Make time for this, it may take a while, seeing as it took my internet EIGHTEEN HOURS to upload it (yes, my internet sucks, and I only get 30gb daytime bandwidth use per month or it gets somehow WORSE).

Seriously, my images peel in like they did on Dial-up on Windows 95 in the 90's.  I really hope they get the gigabit fiber put through soon - because when Covid hit in 2020, the entire area's internet just completely went belly-up as it did in much of the country, due to how outmoded it is, since we ignored our infrastructure since the stone age in this country.

PLEASE MAKE SURE that you paste that entire link in your URL field (if it does not work automatically), including the KEY after the # sign, as that's your ticket to getting an unencrypted copy.

The 11-foot-8 spawn has been updated and moved to it's actual location, although you will spawn about 10 inches (25cm?) onto the curbing (this is known).

Traffic lights breaking on LOW (and sometimes medium for some folks) was due to a game resource contention bug where an in-game resource would over-ride mine in the map, so it's actually fixed now (or should I not speak too soon?).

DO NOT WORRY about clearing cache, you don't have to this time.  The map now uses /losinjurus in-stead of /TSH so the path is now different.  Your old zip can co-exist with the new one, but be aware the only difference in the map preview screens is an orange 2022 on the new version's title card (and the word NEW plastered over the 11-foot-8 spawn card).

There's been quite some texture updating, and most of the development is confined to the area over past the abandoned mall.  The 11-foot-8 spawn and the flood control canal spawn puts you in most of it, but beware of possibly wonky AI in the new areas.

Example graphic settings for TEXTURE detail:

10~16gb GPU - High

8gb GPU - Medium

4gb GPU - Low

2~3gb GPU - Lowest

To affect changes, after setting graphic detail, you will have to exit out of and reload the map.  Heavy AI use could raise the texture VRAM requirement a little more, so keep that in mind.  These above-listed requirements will likely be valid for some time moving forward.  That said please DO NOT overpay for a new 8gb GPU, get an RX 470/480/570/580/590 if you want an 8gb card, they can be had for a song used right now since GPU prices have come down some.

16gb or more of system memory is recommended, especially if using a lot of AI you might want 24gb or more.

----------------

Future:

Optimization and bug fix release to lower VRAM requirements, although most of the large textures I need are already in the map, it doesn't hurt to lower the VRAM requirement a bit more.

Many many AI fixes.

A continuation of adding buildings to the map as many were cut from this release due to time-constraints.

Upgrade to PBR textures, this has been in the works for a LONG time but it keeps bugging out on me, so I've yet to throw this in any public-facing side of the map.  It'll be in when it's less buggy and more usable.  Maybe I need to upgrade my brain?

I will be busy working on my house (maintenance, broken stuffs) over the course of the next month, that having been said I will still be doing map updates.  This is only mentioned so if you notice there's no posts on the forum for several-day-long periods, this is why.

YOU *MUST* EXTRACT THE MAP ZIP FOR IT TO WORK. Just making that clear so that folks see it! If you have a map mod or any mod over 4gb, the game's 32-bit file handling code goes bust. I completely forgot about this limit when uploading. The next version(s) of the map will be hosted on my own server host plan. I will make a formal post about this shortly.

have the map now but it's not showing in game

Eric Jacques

keeps exceeding download limit on mega and mega wants me to buy a subscription. We need a different site to download from if possible

Eric Jacques

the map is failing to load, no matter what I do. Reinstalled the game, deleted every trace of beam.ng from my computer, downloaded it and decrypted it, and it keeps giving me the "invalid .zip file" error. Is there anything I can do?

Mordecai

I purchased a hosting plan, so Mega won't be an issue anymore. Extract the map when you get it so it will load.

Bob Blunderton

I second this, I'm having the same issue

Bryce DonFrancisco

hey might i recommend using something like google drive or dropbox for the upload? mega imposes a 5GB limit to free users downloading so you cant even download the whole file unless you wait like a couple hours for it to reset the quota edit: yeah im at 5GB out of 6.12 and i have to either wait 6 hours for free, or pay $5

gavingood1

Is this the 11'8" or the new 11'"8+8" variant?
