Progress Report 10/27/21

Hey everyone,

Hope you all are well. I wanted to give everyone an update as to the progress of the upcoming video. At this point, I've narrowed my list of potential topics to two:

The first is admittedly a bit controversial, and it's one I've had on my list for a while. I know for certain it will make a compelling video, probably about an hour long if not a little more, filled to the brim with all the drama and moment-in-time implications that I look for in good topics. The problem is its inherently political and religious nature, and there's really no getting around it. Although I'm confident in my ability to cover the events fairly and objectively, there's always anxiety present when tackling these subjects, and I'm not sure if I want to deal with that anxiety for the few months it would take me to make the video. But then again, knowing a good video will come out of it is often enough to propel me forward no matter what.

The second topic is more of a character study than a full-blown saga, similar to what you've all seen me do many times before. What attracts me to this story is that I may have the opportunity to do some on-location filming & interviewing, which would allow me to present a slightly different style of video than I have before--something more akin to a traditional documentary than a YouTube-style video essay. Many of you who've been around a while know that I've been wanting to experiment with this style for a long time, and I'm hoping this might be the topic where I finally get to do it.

This is not to say I won't eventually cover both of these topics. I would very much like to. It's just a matter of which one comes next. Currently, I'm working on both of them simultaneously. I'm also reserving a bit of time each workday for looking into other topics as well, just in case both of these topics fall through. I've been doing this long enough to know that that's always a possibility, and I want to have plenty of back-ups ready so that the time between releases isn't extended unnecessarily.

Once I know for sure the next video topic, I'll write another update. Hopefully this won't be long. My goal is to be firm on a topic by the end of this month. I'd love to have another release before the end of the year, but it's impossible to say at this time whether or not that's feasible.

Also, I want to thank you all for your enthusiastic response to my last video. Many of you have said you consider it one of the channel's best. This is so amazing to hear, because I totally agree, and I always want to be raising the standard with each video. So thank you again for your support. You all are my most consistent source of motivation to do good work.

We'll talk again soon. Til next time,

AG

Good luck with both topics - while it may be nervewracking to try the new and experimental, it's always good to experiment and try something for the sake of it. :)

Always appreciate these updates! I'll watch anything you put out - haven't been disappointed yet!

Do whatever you want most, of course, but my feeling is that you should do the first idea. Filming is really cool but difficult, and it's easier to film in spring (longer days = more daylight, no Christmas crowds/adverts to avoid, cheaper and safer travel, etc), and if you start planning ahead, you can buy equipment in holiday sales and have time to get used to testing it. Also, I prefer the broader topics, but that's just me. It's all gravy!

Both are going to have their risks. Regardless of which you choose, hopefully it excites you and will either be a winner or a learning experience. That said, I know some people who enjoy more documentary+interview style videos rather than narration. If option 1 ends up not being worth the anxiety, option 2 still has some upside with bringing in a new audience. I'm sure it'll be great either way.

Thanks so much, Kirin!

You're the best AG and the recent video was definitely a new standard, although my personal favorite remains Breatharianism. So good it got banned! As for the new topic: you've rattled the cage of the Breatharians. You've dispelled myths around Phoenix Jones. You should go for Option #1 and let it rip!
